I would be interested in hearing from other users about how they:

    1. customized Confluence's appearance using ONLY the Confluence supported plug-ins
    2. introduced the use of a wiki in their organization - which department "championed" the use, how did management get involved? etc.

    Thank you,

    Shirley

I too would like to hear about how other organizations have introduced and deployed Confluence. Also of interest would be how organizations are using the tool within their business practices: is it a document management system, communications tool, knowledge-base, project management, etc.

Topics that I'd love to see:

    1. Strategies for organizing an organization's content in Confluence (e.g. Atlassian seems to start with spaces that are version numbers of a product, and then break out "Admin Guide", "User's Guide", etc.).

    2. Using Jira, Confluence, and other Atlassian products to support a scrum development methodology.

    3. Best practices for reusing Confluence wiki content

    •  organizing internal wiki content (e.g. product management notes authored in Confluence)
    •  reusing that content in a scrum development methodology
    •  testing team knowns use cases
    •  generating public documentation either PDF and/or online powered by Confluence

    4. Jira work-log reporting (incl discussion of various work-log reporting plugins)

Great suggestions! I notice that most of them are Confluence centric. Do we have any FishEye/Crucible/Clover/Crowd users out there? There will definitely be an opportunity during Birds of a Feather to discuss these topics and we'll try to bring in speakers to meet your expectations

As always, we're looking for speakers for our user groups, so if you have an interesting implementation, use case or story on any of our products and you'd like to speak, please shoot me an email at lkhalil [at] atlassian [dot] com

    Cheers,

    Laura

I would like to understand Atlassian's plans for Confluence templates - which, in my opinion, is by far the weakest feature in an otherwise exceptional product.

Oh, that and the MS Office Connector that is already on the agenda (what version is that targeted for)?

      Hi Stephen,

We'll absolutely cover the Office Connector, likely in the News and Update at the beginning. The Office Connector is available now, released with Confluence 2.9. The Office Connector is completely free if your license is under active maintenance.

I'd like to learn more about skinning with layout decorators and creating custom content templates, and would like the opportunity to talk with people who have gone thru the customization process. In addition, I'd be very interested in hearing about the experiences of anybody who has converted an existing wiki to Confluence, especially TWiki.

Layout decorators and custom content templates would be of great interest. We'd like to make Confluence look much like an Intranet site, while having all the functionality of a great wiki.

Not an event realted post, but looking for some help...

We want to allow comments from those outside our organization. In the past we simply turned on Anonymous viewing and commenting. However we have had some vandalism (porn links, rude/insulting comments, etc.). Is there a way to monitor and approve Anonymous comments?  Or, if we turn on Public Access Sign-up, can we approve those who sign-up before they get access?

    Thanks,

    Patrick

Great thought... so some issues I've run into:

#1) Without crowd, the site-level administration requirement to add/remove users to groups is a hurdle. IE, if a 50 person team wants to manage a group, difficulty!

*Potential/Proposed Solution* - It would be excellent/easy if email lists (our company uses outlook) could seamlessly integrate with confluence groups. We don't need to make any changes administratively in confluence that way, let the email list owners update the membership and rely on automatic configuration via ldap.

      Thoughts?

Folks, As I mentioned to some of you during the UG meeting last week, my company is looking to replace our current wiki engine with a more modern one. If you would be willing to share your Confluence experiences with me, I'd love to talk to you. Please drop me a line at Lisa.Groomes@sig.com and we can set up a time to talk. Thanks
