5.13.1 Integrating Bamboo with Crowd

Bamboo 1.2 Documentation

Atlassian's Crowd identity management system can be integrated with Bamboo. Please see the document Integrating Crowd with Bamboo in the Crowd Administrator's Guide.

Crowd integration with Bamboo

The text on the Security Settings page, under the 'Enable External User Management?' check-box, currently reads 'Enable this option if you are delegating your user management to another user management system (e.g. Crowd).'

This is not correct in all cases. If you are connecting Bamboo to an external user management system and do not have rights to update user attributes there, you will need to prevent users from being updated in Bamboo (i.e. check the 'Enable External User Management?' check-box). Users should use the following table as a guide to setting the 'Enable External User Management?' check-box:

External User Management Setup 'Enable External User Management?' check-box
Bamboo integrated with — read-only LDAP Checked
Bamboo integrated with — read-write LDAP Unchecked
Bamboo integrated with — Crowd using the Crowd database (i.e. Internal Directories) Unchecked
Bamboo integrated with — Crowd connected to a read-only LDAP Checked
Bamboo integrated with — Crowd connected to a read-write LDAP Unchecked
Bamboo integrated with — Crowd with authentication-only delegated to LDAP. Unchecked
