The Atlassian Codegeist Plugin Competition (the "Contest") is a competition aimed at encouraging the development of innovative and creative plugins for Atassian's products, JIRA and Confluence ("Plugins"). All eligible entries will be judged based on the criteria listed below, and prizes will be awarded for the best entries. Contest begins at 12:01 a.m. (GMT +11) on January 19, 2006, and ends at 11:59 p.m. (GMT +11) on March 19, 2006. This Contest is sponsored by Atlassian Software Systems Pty Ltd, Level 1, 275 George Street, Sydney, NSW, 2000, Australia (the "Sponsor").
Eligibility.
This Contest is open to software development enthusiasts who are 18 years of age or older at the time of entry. This Contest is void where prohibited by applicable law. Employees of Atlassian Software Systems Pty Ltd, their immediate family members and persons living in the households of said employees are not eligible to enter.
Submissions.
Submissions must be plugins written using the JIRA or Confluence plugin system. Entrants will be required to register with Atlassian Software Systems. The Plugin interface may be localized in the entrant's language; however, it must be accompanied by an English transcript of the instructions and interface for English speaking judges.
The Plugin must have been created by you and no more than two others, and by submitting a Plugin you represent that you have all unrestricted rights necessary to submit your Plugin, and that your Plugin does not defame or invade publicity rights or privacy of any person, or otherwise infringe upon any person's intellectual property rights.
The Plugin must be submitted under an Berkeley Standard Distribution (BSD) open source license.
You must submit your Plugin online by following the instructions listed at Submission Guidelines 2006 to be eligible for entry. You may enter as often as you wish.
Judging.
All eligible Plugins will be judged and ranked by the Sponsor in their sole discretion, and three (3) general winners will be selected based on the following criteria, each of which will be weighted equally:
- Usefulness
- Creativity & Elegance
- Completeness
- Code quality and documentation.
One (1) "Best Hack" winner will be selected based on the humor, creativity and novelty of the entry, each of which will be weighted equally.
All decisions regarding prize awards are final and binding in all matters relating to this Contest.
Prizes.
Four (4) prizes will be awarded:
1st Place: $5000
Honorable Mention (2 prizes): ($2000)
Best Hack: $1000
In addition, the all entries will receive an Atlassian T-shirt.
All prize values are in U.S. Dollars. All prizes subject to standard terms and conditions goverining such prize, if any. The Sponsors reserve the right to substitute any prize package with another prize of equal or greater value in the event that the advertised prize (or any component thereof) is not available. In the event of a tie, the winners will recieve a prize of equal value. Expenses not specifically stated above, together with the reporting and payment of all applicable taxes, fees, surcharges or governmental duties of any kind, if any, arising out of or related to acceptance or use of a prize, are the sole responsibility of the winner of that prize.
Winner Notification.
Winners will be notified on or before May 15, 2006 via email, U.S. mail, or telephone. A winners list will also be posted on http://confluence.atlassian.com/display/DEVNET. Each prize winner may be required to sign and return an affidavit of eligibility, a signed copy of the Terms and Conditions, and/or liability/publicity release (except where prohibited by law) and provide any additional information (such as social security number), that may be required for the Sponsors to comply with applicable law. Failure or delay in giving such requested information or approvals may result in disqualification. Return of any prize or prize notification as undeliverable, or the inability to contact a potential winner may result in disqualification and selection of an alternate winner.
License to Publish Submissions.
By submitting a Plugin and entering this Contest you hereby grant the Sponsors a perpetual, irrevocable, sublicenseable, worldwide, royalty free right to use, test, translate, publish and distribute your Plugin in connection with the promotion of Atlassian Software Systems, Pyt Ltd.. Further, none of the entry materials submitted by you will be treated as confidential, so please do not submit proprietary information.
The Sponsors shall be free to use for any purpose, without the obligation to pay any royalties, any information, ideas, concepts or know-how which may be retained in the memory of the judges or persons who have had access to the Plugins.
Limitation of Liability.
YOUR PARTICIPATION IN THE CONTEST IS AT YOUR OWN RISK. THE SPONSORS HEREBY DISCLAIM ANY AND ALL WARRANTIES, EXPRESS, IMPLIED, STATUTORY OR OTHERWISE WITH RESPECT TO THE CONTEST. THE SPONSORS SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY DIRECT OR INDIRECT DAMAGES ARISING OUT OF OR RELATED TO YOUR PARTICIPATION OR INABILITY TO PARTICIPATE IN THE CONTEST. The Sponsors assume no responsibility for any computer, online, telephone transmission or technical malfunctions that may occur during participation in the Contest, or for theft, destruction or unauthorized access to, or alteration of, your Plugin or any other materials submitted by you. The Sponsors are not responsible for any incorrect or inaccurate information, whether caused by website users, Contest participants or any of the equipment or programming associated with or utilized in the Contest; or for any technical or human error which may occur in the processing of submissions in the Contest. The Sponsors assume no responsibility for any error, interruption, defect, or delay in operation or transmission, failures or technical malfunction of the Internet, or any telephone network or lines, computer online systems, servers, computer equipment, software, email. The Sponsors are not responsible for any injury or damage to participants or to any computer related to or resulting from participating or downloading materials in this Contest. Some jurisdictions may not allow certain limitations on liability and so the foregoing limitations may not apply to you.
General Legal Provisions.
The Sponsors may discontinue, cancel or reschedule the Contest, or otherwise disqualify any entry, for any reason or no reason, in their sole discretion. The Contest and these Official Rules are governed by the laws of the State of California, excluding its conflicts of laws principles. By entering the Contest, you consent to the exclusive jurisdiction and venue of the state and federal courts located in San Francisco, California. If any provision of these Official Rules is held by a court of competent jurisdiction to be contrary to law, such provision shall be changed and interpreted so as to best accomplish the objectives of the original provision to the fullest extent allowed by law, provided that if no such interpretation is possible, the provision shall be stricken and the remaining provisions of these Official Rules shall remain in effect to the fullest extent allowable under applicable law. The headings in this Agreement are inserted for convenience only and do not affect its interpretation. These Official Rules constitute the final, complete and exclusive understanding between the Sponsors and you with respect to your participation in the Contest, and supersedes any prior or contemporaneous representations, rules, or agreements, whether written or oral.
