A Bicycle for the Mind
I'm not sure how this video got past me. I thought I was one of the biggest fans of early Steve Jobs history, yet somehow I'd never seen this video of Steve describing computers to him: What a fantastic analogy...
Return of the Charlie
G'day. It's been far too long. Enough said. Sometimes life gets busy, so you forget to blog. You'll have more time tomorrow. Then you forget again. And again. Soon you're completely out of the habit of blogging. Small impulses run...
JavaOne, Atlassian and free beer
I'm back in SF for our User Group (last Thursday @ Stanford - thanks to everyone who came, fantastic UG!) and JavaOne next week. We have a huge schedule for JavaOne this year - with 6 new product launches...
$USD 1 million, 10,000 customers and 20% time
As always, life became busy and I stopped blogging. Apologies! A few Atlassian, life and (Atlassian + life) updates: Atlassian is doing a grand experiment in engineering with our 20% time trial - watch that blog if you're a software...
How to write a bad resume
Having read a lot of resumes over the years, Jeffrey nails it in his post How to write a bad resume. Most mortals can fit their background on one page. After about ten years of experience, you might merit a...

On Acting Decisively: Confluence + SharePoint Integration
“All courses of action are risky, so prudence is not in avoiding danger (it's impossible), but calculating risk and acting decisively. Make mistakes of ambition not mistakes of sloth. Develop the strength to do bold things, not the strength...
WebDirections Presentation: Organisational Wiki Adoption
I was a happy attendee at WebDirections South 2007 and WebJam last week. Congratulations to John, Maxine, Lachlan and all involved - truly fabulous conference. The vibe was fantastic and the sessions I attended were all really high quality. Mark...
Flickr supports Talk Like A Pirate Day
Everyone will tell you that I love pirates, and being Talk Like A Pirate Day I loved seeing Flickr getting into the spirit of things with a new logo today: (Note: I also love it when Flickr greets me with...
Cutlassian 2007 - I'd Rather Be A Pirate Than The Navy!
If you were were confused by the teaser - my apologies. I started a huge post and only got as far as the movie so turned it into a teaser. If you haven't heard by now (and why would you?),...
Teaser...
Morgo Thoughts & Presentation
I spent the last half of last week at the Morgo conference on the beautiful northern tip of New Zealand. I have to say that I was thoroughly impressed by the conference in general. Australian tech companies could learn a...
Random Press & Blog Love
It's always nice to be mentioned on blogs or in the press, and being away from the office for 3 weeks means that when you get back it hits you like a lovely warm breeze. If you're interested, enjoy -...
Chaser @ Atlassian Offices
From the Sydney Morning Herald: The Chaser's Charles Firth is working on a new satire-driven weekly print magazine and news website, to be launched around August. And where did he choose to take the photo for the launch of this...
