Office 2007

For those of you luck enough to have Office 2007, the Send To Wiki menu item can be found under the Save As menu item by default:

Configuration

  • When entering your servername in the setup, it should be something like myservername.com. If you cannot connect, you can edit this in the Advanced tab.
  • If you cannot connect, please try myservername.com:80
  • If you are using a secure URL (SSL) i.e. [https://]... then you need to do the following
    • specify the correct SSL port, usually :443 or :8443 e.g. _myservername.com:443
    • add the certificate to your trusted certificate store
      • In IE, click the padlock icon and export the certificate
      • In Tools -> Internet Options -> Content then add the certificate to one of the the trusted certificate stores (menus may be different depending upon version of IE)

I was trying to evaluate the add on and found following issues, not sure if it has been already fixed in the new version.

    • The embedded documents are not getting imported, only the icon of the embedded object appears in the final output
    • When we try to upload mulitple word documents, I am not able to provide the parent details seperately for each of the document being uploaded. I can specify only one parent for all the documents
    • I see some line numbers being generated in the output for some of the word document files and not for all documents
    • Is it possible to split huge word documents into multiple wiki pages (based on heading 1 sections) ? So that content viewing and granularity of labeling and commenting will be easy.

I am using office 2002 and Ihave IE installed on my machine when I evaluated the tool.

      • Embedded documents are not supported yet
      • You can only specify the parent once per upload. If you need to set it per page, you need to run one page at a time
      • I'm aware of the line numbers issue. This seems to happen for some users when they have large lists in the document. I'm working on a fix for the next release, in the mean time, change the list converion method to Office on the advanced tab. This method is currently better for large lists.
      • It isn't possible to split the pages. Possibly something I can add in at a later date ...

This looks great, but is the old VBA macro version still available anywhere on the site? It was simpler, but it did the job just fine for simple Word to Confluence conversions, and the price was right.

I installed this application, and now whenever I open any Office app -- Word, Excel, Visio -- I get the Send-to-Wiki toolbar. I don't like extra toolbars, and needless to say I can't fix it so that it doesn't come up automatically. Does anyone know how to keep this from happening (without dumping the entire plug-in)?

Does anyone know if there's a plugin that works on the Confluence side rather than on the Office side?  From an administration perspective, it would be easier to have a plug-in in one place (on Confluence) rather than as an add-in on everyone's version of MS-Word/Excel.

    Hello,

I am having problem with the list numbers, like 2.1.1. None of these list numbers seems to be shown after the document is converted to confluence. Can you please help me?
