Installation Guide

If you have Confluence 2.10 or later, the Office Connector is bundled with your Confluence software and you do not need to install the plugin separately. However, if you do need to install the plugin, follow these steps:

  1. If you have previously installed the plugin when it was called the Word/DAV plugin, you will need to un-install this version first.
  2. Install the plugin through the plugin repository, or by directly uploading, or by dropping the jar into your WEB-INF/lib directory.
  3. Configure the plugin as described in the Confluence Administration Guide.

If you have a problem, please take a look at the limitations and known issues described in the Confluence User Guide. If you do not find a solution to your problem, please file a support request on the Atlassian Support System.

    We have many pages that link to attached work documents.  Why does this plugin not give us the ability to edit and save those work document attachements directly?  It appears to me that in order to provide the ability to edit the work document, I must use the viewfile macro, which embeds the content of the work document on a page.  It would be nice is we could edit the attachment directory when clicking on a link to the attachment.

      I agree. There should be a simple macro for linking to attachments so that they open using the office connector. This would make Confluence a lot more usable as a simple versioned document store. Something like the {attachments} macro (for listing attachments, with edit links) would also be helpful. This is such a small thing to add when you have already implemented the difficult stuff

    Since upgrading to 2.10 with Office Connector enabled - users using Firefox seem to be unable to download or open any file attachment. We have disabled the Edit in Word function as it is not compatible with our security framework.

    Also the Doc Import seems to not work after someone tries to import an Office 2007 document - all subsequent attempts to load a 97/2003 doc fail with the same binary content error message.

    Any ideas?

      Sorry if this comes in a little late. I am not aware of such issue to date, however, I would suggest you to create a support ticket at https://support.atlassian.com if you have not. We will need to see some screenshots, plugins list (via http://path-to-your-instance/500page.jsp) and a copy of atlassian-confluence.log for further investigation.
