Description/Features
An attempt to implement a Blog theme for Confluence.
The theme attempts to mimic what many people has come to associate with a "blog".
The Theme is morphing according to user's permissions
It supports distinctly:
- anonymous users
- authenticated users
- those with page create rights
- those with news create rights
- space admins and global admins
Consider having special groups to denote those who can create content, those who can administer the space and regular users.
Installation
The following are currently required to use the theme:
Install the following plugins via Confluence Plugin Manager
- Linking Plugin
- Adaptavist Content Formatting Macros
- HTML Plugin
Disable the following plugins
- HTML Macros
Unable to render {include} Couldn't find a page to include called: DOC:Installing plugins overview
Usage
- Create New Space
Choose TechTime Blog Theme - Upload the space logo via Space Admin/Change Space Logo
The Logo file should be 800px in width to be in style with the theme - Add a page with name "About" with any text about your blog
- Add a page with name "Featured Articles" with any list of featured articles
Examples
See the theme in action
Version History
- Blog Theme Release 0.7.50 — Support for Confluence 2.8.x, rendering improvements
- Blog Theme Release 0.6.23 — Anonymous user handling, rendering fixed, cleanup, license
- Blog Theme Release 0.5.50 — Archive Links, more advanced Featured Links default page, various rendering fixes
- Blog Theme Release 0.4.28 — Layout rendering bugfixes
- Blog Theme Release 0.3.8 — Improvements to front page, Comment mode, layout bugs
- Blog Theme Release 0.2.15 — Color customizations, enhanced About/Featured Articles, removed dependencies, bug fixes
- Blog Theme Release 0.1.16 — Initial theme release
Open Issues
These are known issues to be fixed in future versions:
- Search via "GO" goes to the space search result page which doesn't have space styles applied
- Further search goes to the global search results page
- When in Rich-Text mode comment box does not fit and is rendered with scrollbars
- Anonymous user can still edit pages, blogposts and attachments if one enters the URL directly
- Anonymous add page and add news modes look ugly
- Small shift in rigt-side layout between main and view news page
- Breadcrumbs for posts with long titles look ugly
- Impossible to add Labels to a blogpost without going into an edit mode
Build from source
Take the source bundle, unzip, run "ant build" from within.

Unfortunately, my Confluence instance is deployed under the WebSphere Application Server v6.0.x (which is JDK 1.4 based). Could you please provide a version of this plugin compatibled with the JDK 1.4.

This is a really great plugin. We're using it for an internal blog and it looks great and is really easy to use.
A few things that we are having trouble with though that would be great to get some help with:
Also, what's the process for making changes to the template when the blog is already in operation. Does we just re upload the template and all the existing pages/posts and space colours, etc, are kept in tact?
Any help would be appreciated! Thanks, Tara
