Troubleshooting the Confluence Plugin Repository

Unable to find the product information in the repository build xml file

Atlassian now maintain the metadata that defines which plugins are available in the repository. When a new version of Confluence is released, the metadata needs updating - if you're seeing an error "Repository Exception: Unable to find the product information in the repository build xml file", please contact jonathan@atlassian.com and ask that they include the new version of Confluence in the repository.

Error 'Repository Exception: Error while reading: http://files.adaptavist.com/repository//repository-b645.xml' or similar

The Confluence server must have Internet access to download repository content. If you are using a web proxy, it may be incorrect configured. To test this:

  1. From the Confluence server, attempt to visit the failing XML link
  2. Embed an external RSS feed into a Confluence page:
    {rss:url=http://www.abc.net.au/news/syndicate/breakingrss.xml|max=5|showTitlesOnly=true}

If you cannot view the XML page, or the RSS feed throws an exception, please check out the instructions to Configure Web Proxy Support for Confluence.

The repository is set to Admin only!

If you see this message, and you are an administrator, ensure that you are a member of the confluence-administrators user group.

If you are using repository macros in wiki pages, contact your site administrator.

502 Errors

If you're getting 502 errors, restart Confluence to force Java to clear it's DNS cache. More information can be found in CONF-9638

XStream errors

If you are suffering the same symptoms as per CONF-8422, please upgrade to v2.0.5 or above which should solve your problems. You will probably need to download an install the plugin JAR manually using the Plugin Manager as opposed to the Plugin Repository.
