In Crowd, users are referred to as principal entity objects (or just principals).


To add a principal,

  1. Login to the Crowd Administration Console.
  2. Click the 'Principals' link in the top navigation bar.
  3. This will display the Principal Browser. Click the 'Add Principal' link.
  4. Complete the fields as described in the table below, then click the 'Create' button.
  5. After creating the principal, you will be able to specify the principal's attributes and group/role membership.



Field

Description

Email

The email address of the principal. Email addresses must follow the RFC2822 format.

Active

Only deselect this if you wish to deny access to the principal.

Username

The login name of the principal. Within a given directory, the Username must be unique. Note that the Username cannot be changed once the principal is created.

Password

The password of the principal.
(info) If you have configured an Email Server and a Notification Template, Crowd will send the user an email notification about their new password.

First Name

The first name of the principal.

Last Name

The last name of the principal.

Directory

The directory to which the principal will be added. Note that the principal cannot be moved to a different directory once the principal is created.
