In Crowd, users are referred to as principal entity objects (or just principals).
Principals can either be imported into Crowd in bulk (see 2.4 Importing Principals and Groups into a Directory), or added individually as follows.
To add a principal,

Description |
| Email |
The email address of the principal. Email addresses must follow the RFC2822 format. |
| Active |
Only deselect this if you wish to deny access to the principal. |
| Username |
The login name of the principal. Within a given directory, the Username must be unique. Note that the Username cannot be changed once the principal is created. |
| Password |
The password of the principal. 
If you have configured an Email Server and a Notification Template, Crowd will send the user an email notification about their new password. |
| First Name |
The first name of the principal. |
| Last Name |
The last name of the principal. |
| Directory |
The directory to which the principal will be added. Note that the principal cannot be moved to a different directory once the principal is created. |
