Background

This can be done manually, using the procedure at Copy Or Rename A Space

The concept of a 'space template' is being tracked in JIRA at http://jira.atlassian.com/browse/CONF-4538

Suggested Usage Example

Perhaps a button in the space admin area that says 'copy this space'. The button would present a dialog box that allowed the user to input some parameters.

Suggested Parameters

  • The space name
  • Some sort of search and replace expression for modifying text within the space - perhaps variables like the page templates use?
  • Some options about whether or not to copy permissions, templates, etc.

Other Requirements

  • Needs to use the 'create space' permissions.
  • Copy all space permissions
  • Copy all other space attributes, including
    • Templates
    • Theme
    • Colours
    • Etc.
  • Presented as a 'space template' concept
