Garnet's Wishlist For Confluence 3

Here are ideas from others I'd also like to see:

  1. Open Source as many core plugins as possible (allow the developer community to help with the tasks that follow) From Guy's Wishlist for Confluence 3
    1. My comment - Using plugins that you don't have the source code for poses significant risk to your system during future upgrades of Confluence.

I've been encouraged to log these issues in Jira, and I will. I've already voted on some issues in Jira, and I should probably bring them back here to get my thoughts together in one place. Sometimes the dividing line between bug and feature isn't always made in the same place by different thinking people, so this page just serves as a nice place to organize the issues I've encountered.

Found this comment on http://jira.atlassian.com/browse/CONF-3908: "I gotta say... having spent a an unfortunate week digging in Confluence's internals, I am less than impressed. It's not exactly a pinnacle of software engineering under the hood."

My own wiki is at http://www.bobsgear.com and includes definitions of several Confluence wiki projects I am working on.

Thanks Garnet for creating this wish list. However, I would recommend for you to search JIRA for similar improvements or feature requests as some of them are there already. Hence I would suggest for you to add a vote to the particular items and follow the progress via watching those issues.
For instance, the suggestion for WySiWyG editor could be added to the umbrella issue for all wiki editing issues: http://jira.atlassian.com/browse/CONF-6992

If you can't locate a specific ticket that encompasses the requirements that you may have, please feel free to create a new issue in Jira.
