Group Admin at the Space level

I like the idea of groups, but I don't like having to give someone full admin rights to be able to create/edit them.

We have a lot of projects, and I'm setting up spaces for each one. Ideally, each space has its own special groups (maybe spacename-developers, spacename-testers, and spacename-users). But, since I don't want to be a full-time group administrator, I'm making space "admins" permission users individually.

What I'd really like is the ability to create groups for a space, add/remove users to them, and permission them as desired. Thoughts?

It might be easier to create a plugin that can be configured by the system administrator to define which groups can be maintained by which users / groups. Then a simple macro could be deployed to spaces allowing the people with the configured "maintain groups" privileges add users to the groups.

We're already thinking about creating such a plugin as many of our clients have this requirement. For more information, email me at gfraser at adaptavist.com

I have spent about 30 minutes a day for the past week adding new users to a group for a space administrator. So yes this admin load is definitely one that should be passed over to space administrators. Perhaps a Space level "subscribe these user to the dedicated space group via a comma delimited list.
And at the same time the Space admin person needs to be able to view the members of a space specific group.

And it works quite well, thank you.

Next, all we need is the ability for space admins to create the groups.  Note that creating a group is not a security-sensitive operation - only giving it privileges.

Hi admins! Unable to render embedded object: File (This users contributes BiDi 03.jpg) not found.

I would like to do some BiDi (bidirectional) tests here and kindly ask you to help me getting some.

Please email me when it's set up or about whatever I need to do.
    Kind regards ~~~~

P.S. The JavaSkript tool buttons are very « cool » . I hope we can add a set / a lot of such buttons related to BiDi editing.
