Confluence IRC channel
For those of you with Internet Relay Chat software (such as GAIM) interested in participating in live chats with other confluence users:
You can find us at #confluence on freenode.net
Here you can hang out with other confluence administrators, users and customers, ask your questions and participate in discussions.
If someone wants to write some detailed instructions you might want to poach some of my wording off the TWikiIRC page

Adaptavist have a plugin that embeds an IRC client directly in to a Confluence page if that's any use?

Sure, can we embed it onto this page?

Unfortunately it looks like this is old news - Is the idea abandoned or moved to another server?

While not IRC, we are currently working on a chat plugin for one of our clients ... it's in the early stages of development at the moment and would likely need to sit with the client for a while before we release it publicly, but a solution is in the pipeline.
If IRC capability is a show-stopper, then it may be possible to develop an IRC gateway to the existing chat, we have also been considering an XMPP gateway however the client has decided not to go for that option.
