Adding a Space Label

To add a Space Label,

  1. Go to the 'Space Admin' tab of the Browse Space view. To do this:

    • Go to a page in the space, open the 'Browse' menu and select 'Space Admin'. The 'Space Administration' view will open.
'Space Admin' is only displayed if you are a space administrator for that space or you are a Confluence system administrator.

  2. Click 'Edit Space Details'. This will take you to a new screen.

  3. Click 'Edit Space Labels' in the left navigation frame. In the input field displayed under the heading 'Labels', type in your label and click 'Add'. A list of suggested labels is also displayed in the form. Click on the label to add it.

I agree, Also, I think the terms "space labels" is confusing. Space labels are not (as far as I can tell) specific to a space in the way personal labels are specific to you and global labels are site wide. They're still just global labels that you've entered in advance for a given space. What we need is something like space:label along the lines of my:label for personal labels. What this leads to once you start using labels as lightweight ontologies you get the inevitable clash of overlapping/conflicting/context inappropriate global labels.

To clarify.. I meant to say that what the -absence- of a solution restricting labels to spaces leads to is clashing ontologies. An alternative approach to a solution is to add a permission set for labels, just as you have now for comments, pages, mail, news etc. IMHO despite the newish and welcome ability to search by labels, they're currently not feeling much love in Confluence..

    Hi,

in our company wiki at Ordina, we use space labels for grouping global spaces into categories. Users can navigate to every global space using pulldown menus.

    Regards, Herman.
