With the release of Confluence 2.10, MySQL 4.1.x is no longer supported and will not work by default. See the Supported Platforms topic for further details.
However, there is a workaround to enable MySQL 4.1.x with Confluence 2.10.
To enable MySQL 4.1.x with Confluence 2.10:
- When launching Confluence from the command line, add the following parameter:
- This will enable MySQL 4.1.x to work with Confluence 2.10. Please note however, that use of this database will not be supported by Atlassian.

I used this workaround while evaluating Confluence and did run into a mysql error when I attempted to edit the labels for a space (in the space admin area). I then embarked on a mission to upgrade my server to MySQL5.1. The error went away, so it seems the workaround doesn't cover all conditions. I don't excpect any action on this, just wanted to let others know that this will be a problem when using MySQL 4.x.
