I understand from the support team that certain portions (or perhaps all?) of the connector is now unsupported and that the Atlassian team has discontinued development and plans to open-source the code. Is there a statement someplace here in Confluence regarding the current status?

Hi,
we are about to officially announce it (just finalizing last minor details) - it will be published on this site soon.
We will still support full JIRA integration and most of Bamboo integration.
The code has been always open-sourced - see https://studio.atlassian.com/svn/PLE/tags/hg-migration/ for the last sources for the last released Connector version, but they have been moved (copied) recently elsewhere and the final place (still open for anyone) will be mentioned in this official announcement.
