JIRA 4.0 Beta Documentation

Installing plugins in JIRA is easy.

Once you have downloaded or created your plugin jar, follow these steps:

  1. Shut down JIRA
  2. copy '$MY_COOL_PLUGIN.jar' into '.../atlassian-jira/WEB-INF/lib/'
  3. Start up JIRA.
  4. Go to 'Administration > Plugins' and confirm that $MY_COOL_PLUGIN is listed and enabled.
  5. Enjoy!

What about configuring plugins. If I change a plugin's configuration do I have to bounce JIRA? Or can I simply disable and enable the plugin through 'Administration > Plugins'?

      Hello Nick,

Do you mind to explain what do you mean by configuring plug-in? You will need to restart JIRA if you are to install a new plug-in or to update its *.properties files. There are some plug-ins which provide you the web interface so that it can be configured directly without restarting (such as adding a new portlet, etc).

      Hi Ray,

The process for installing plugins on a JIRA EAR/WAR installation should not differ from the process for installing plugins on a JIRA standalone installation.

      Kind Regards,
      Andrew

      Hi there,

You should have full access to install plugins in your Hosted JIRA instance. If you are having problems installing the plugin yourself, you can create a request in our https://support.atlassian.com/ (in the 'JIRA Support' project) and our hosting provider (Contegix) will install it for you.

      Kind Regards,
      Andrew

    Hi,

I have been trying to deploy a portlet plugin with the war distribution version. I put the jar file under %atlassian-jira-root%\webapp\WEB-INF\lib and restarted server, but didn't see the new portlet. Then I put the jar file under %atlassian-jira-root%\edit-webapp\WEB-INF\lib and restarted svever, no success either. There's no errors in log and jira deployed successfully, seems the plugin jar didn't deploy at all. Any one know what's the problem? I use Tomcat 6 and MySql.

    Best regards,

    Snow.
