Description/Features

Ji-QA is a application in the Windows System tray. It enables you to comfotably view all your issues in a context-menu, when you right-click on the system-tray icon. It offers you access to all your saved filters.  The tool looks for new issues on the server after a user specified period of time. If there are new issues on the server, the user will be informed via a little notification on the screen.

Additionally you can make attachments and comments to those issues, which Ji-QA displays, without using the web-user interface. 

Installation

Download the zip file and run the installer. When you run Ji-QA first, there will appear a message, that there is no connection to a Jira server specified. Afterwards the options dialog will be shown on your screen. Type in your information.

You have to enter

1. JIRA-URL  including http://

2. Your JIRA username and password (will be encrypted and stored locally in a file)

3. Update Period in minutes

4. Max. Number of Issues to be displayed in Ji-QA - we would recommend not using more than 40
(Filters with a larger number of issues will be disabled)

The SOAP/RPC Plugin has to be enabled in JIRA.

Hint:

Create global filters in JIRA named "My Issues" and "My reported issues" using the "Current User" Setting for reporter and assignee - so everyone of your jira-users will at least have those filters available, when using Ji-QA.

Usage

 
1)     Right click on the notify icon - click on the entry "Filters" and select a filter

2)     Choose an issue and point at the entry

3)     Choose "Show" to show the issue in your standard browser

4)     Choose "Comment" to add a comment or an attachment

    I always get a warning message when configuring the options:

    "Ungültiger URI: der URI-Format konnte nicth bestimmt werden."

    And then:

    "No connection to JIRA specified." 

    I'm using my normal Jira URI.

    I tried both with SSL over internet, and without SSL in the intranet.

    Your URL should look like this, for example:

      I tried to open the files with WinRAR and WinZip and it worked. The files are in zip format. I don't know, why it could not work.

      I attached a RAR file with the installer, so that you can try this one. Here is the link: Ji-QA.rar
      If you want to have the sources also as a RAR archive, just leave a comment.

        I tried WinRAR and WinZip, and Unix unzip, gunzip on multiple systems and did not have any success

      sorry for beeing so late. But I had no system to check the message balloon in Vista after you wrote the comment.

      Now I have one. When I created a new issueand watched Ji-QA under Vista, the balloon appeared in my test system.

      If you still have this issue, would you please give me some more details about your system so that I can reproduce it.
