Favourite Macintosh Software
Mostly for my own reference, here's all the software that I install on a new Mac. Obviously, I'm not including all the bundled software here.
Essential
- Quicksilver – OS X feels broken without it.
- Adium – Multi-protocol Instant Messaging
- Colloquy – IRC
- NetNewsWire – RSS Reader
- TextMate – Text editor
- Transmission – BitTorrent
- VLC Media Player – Multi-format video player
- Flip4Mac Windows Media Components for Quicktime – Windows Media 9 support
- Skitch - Quick and easy screenshot/image annotation
- OmniGraffle - diagramming tool
- SSHKeychain – GUI SSH-agent
- Fugu – GUI SCP/SFTP client
Java Development
- IntelliJ IDEA – Java IDE
- YourKIT – Java profiler
Useful
- Flickr Export – Flickr iPhoto plugin
- Chax – iChat enhancer
- Mail Act-On – Quick keyboard actions for Mail.app
- Snapz Pro – Screenshots and screencasts (Screenflow looks like it might be better, though)
- NiceCast – Shoutcasting
Random
