My name is Matt Ryall. I'm a developer on the Confluence team, and I started at Atlassian in January 2006. I'm very interested in web development, specifically accessible and semantic site design. Wikis are actually one of the most interesting areas of web development, I believe, because they're a totally new form of content. Blogs came from the idea of personal journals, most static websites look like marketing brochures, but there's nothing comparable to a wiki in the physical world. On a wiki you can create an array of linked and searchable content, then anyone can improve on the words you've written, collaborating on whatever you want. Below are some of the pages on this wiki where I've made a significant contribution:
As you can probably see, I like writing long-winded and boring ... er, I mean, long and explanatory documentation for some of the more complicated aspects of Confluence's design. If you see any area that could benefit from more documents like this, please let me know. |

How do I configure user password security such that a new user will be asked to change their password upon first log in? I am referring to on Confluence 3.5.7 version.
Thanks.

There's no way to do this automatically in Confluence. It would be a good idea for a feature request, if you'd like to raise it in JIRA.
To do it manually, after adding the user, you could visit
/forgotuserpassword.actionin your wiki and type in their username to send them a password-reset email.
