With great pleasure, Atlassian presents Confluence 5.1-rc4 (Release Candidate 4).

This beta release is a snapshot of our work in progress, primarily focused on allowing Confluence users to see the new features in advance. This also provides Atlassian with useful feedback. Beta releases also give plugin developers an opportunity to test and fix their plugins in advance of an official release.

Development releases are not production ready. Development releases are snapshots of the ongoing Confluence development process. While we try to keep these releases stable, they have not undergone the same degree of testing as a full release, and could contain features that are incomplete or may change or be removed before the next full release.

No upgrade path. Because development releases represent work in progress, we cannot provide a supported upgrade path between development releases, or from any development release to a final release. You may not be able to migrate any data you store in a Confluence development release to a future Confluence release.

Atlassian does not provide support for development releases.

In this release

This release includes language packs for German, French and Japanese. Please note that Japanese is not available as an option during setup, only after installation is complete.

This release also fixes an issue relating to changing the space in the 'Create' dialog when creating a page.

Please see the new features of Confluence 5.1 described in the Confluence 5.1-rc2 Release Notes.

Upgrade notes

Upgrading from a previous version of Confluence

Upgrading from a previous version of Confluence should be fairly straightforward. Please read the Confluence 5.1-rc2 Upgrade Notes. We strongly recommend that you back up your confluence.home directory and database before upgrading.

A big thank you to everyone who helps us ensure that Confluence keeps getting better and better!
