Licensing fees are quoted per total number of Confluence users. A Confluence user is by definition any user account in the Confluence system with the can use permission, i.e. anyone who can view the site while logged in. This is configured in the Global permissions console. Unlimited anonymous users are permitted on all licenses. Anonymous users are users that do not require a login to use Confluence. You can give anonymous users the ability to read pages and also edit them if you wish (and much more). You can find out more about this here. For example, if you have 1000 users and want them to login into Confluence then you will need to purchase a Confluence license which allows for up to 2,000. However if you would like only your 500 users to login to Confluence to create content (and enable other users to browse your Confluence anonymously) then a Confluence license for up to 500 users would be suitable for your needs. |
