Free

The Free plan is for small teams of fewer than 10 people who are just getting started with Jira.

On the Free plan you get:

  • Up to 10 users (or 3 agents for Jira Service Desk)
  • 2 GB of file storage
  • Atlassian Community support

Project permissions, roles, and issue-level security aren't customizable in Jira Core and Software Free. If your site has always been on a Free plan, everyone with access to Jira Software is an admin for all Jira Software projects, and the same goes for Jira Core. If you change to a Free plan or migrate from Jira Server to a Free plan, project permissions are kept in their current state but anonymous access (if you had granted it) is removed. You'll need to upgrade again to change permissions. Read more about Project permissions, roles, and issue-level security in Free plans.

If all of your Jira Cloud products are on the Free plan, you won't have access to audit logs to track events like changes to global permissions on your site. Once you upgrade any product to Standard or above, you'll be able to use audit logs for your Jira Cloud site.

Standard

As your team grows, and you need tighter access control, more file storage, and better support, you can move to Standard or Premium.

On the Standard plan you move up to:

  • Up to 5,000 users (and 5,000 agents in Jira Service Desk).
  • 250 GB of file storage.
  • Advanced permissions, roles, and permission sharing between classic projects.
  • Audit logs for keeping track of important changes.
  • Standard Support (available 9am–5pm Monday to Friday for your time zone).

Premium

The Premium plan is available for Jira Software and Jira Service Desk. This plan gets you the best of everything, including Premium dedicated customer support.

On the Premium plan for both Jira Software and Jira Service Desk, you get:

  • Unlimited file storage
  • Premium dedicated Atlassian 24/7 support
  • 99.9% uptime service level agreement (SLA)

Inherited Jira Core plans

Jira Software and Service Desk are built on top of Jira Core. If you have a license for either Jira Software or Service Desk, you also get Jira Core with project templates made specifically for business teams. The Jira Core plan you inherit depends on what plans you have for your other Jira Cloud products.

If all of your other Jira Cloud products are on the Free plan, you'll get the features of Jira Core Free. If you have any Jira Cloud product on Standard or Premium, you'll get the features of Jira Core Standard (there's no Jira Core Premium plan).

If you don't specifically activate a license for Jira Core, you can use the features associated with your plan level but you don't get a separate user allowance for Jira Core. To add more users for Jira Core, activate a plan for Jira Core.

Change your plan

If you're using Jira Cloud already, you can try another plan at no extra cost for the remainder of your current and next billing cycles, and cancel any time during the trial if you don't want to proceed. During a trial you can use all the features available on the new plan, but SLA compensation included on the Premium plan doesn't commence until the end of your trial. Once the trial finishes, you'll be placed onto the new plan and charged the new amount at the end of your billing cycle.

Not sure which plan you're on? Choose Settings ) >  Billing Manage subscriptions to find out. The plan for each product is shown next to the product name.

If you change to a lower plan level, you can keep using the features available in your current plan until the end of your billing period.

You need to be an Atlassian Cloud site admin to change a plan for your site.

  1. Choose Settings ) >  Billing Manage subscriptions
  2. Choose Change next to your plan name

You're ready to try out your new plan!

To successfully change to the Free plan for a Jira Cloud product, you need to have 10 users or fewer (Jira Software or Core) or 3 agents or fewer (Jira Service Desk). If you're over that limit when you try to change your plan, the change will fail and you'll remain on your current plan.

Extended cloud trials for Jira Server instances

If you're using Jira Server and trialling Jira Cloud, your trial period lasts for the remainder of your existing server license period. If you change to the Free plan during that trial period, the extended trial ends immediately and you need to upgrade and pay to use Standard or Premium. For that reason, we don't recommend changing to the Free plan during your trial when you're on an extended cloud trial.
