The purpose of this KB is to explain how to create a new Bitbucket Cloud account in detailed steps.

Creating a new Bitbucket Cloud account has 2 options:

  • Normal signup
  • Signup with Jira bundled

Signing up for a normal Bitbucket Cloud account

Signing up with a Jira instance

To sign up for a new Bitbucket Cloud account without a Jira instance, you can follow the below steps:

  1. Go to http://bitbucket.org/
  2. Click Get it free
  3. Click Next
  4. Enter your email address and click Sign up
    1. (info) Answer the captcha challenge question for verification that you are not a robot
  5. Verify your account by clicking the verification link sent to your email address
  6. Enter your full name and create a password
  7. Click Sign up
    1. Answer the captcha challenge question for verification that you are not a robot
  8. Enter a unique username and click Continue
  9. Join an existing workspace or create a new one

To sign up for a new Bitbucket Cloud account with a Jira instance, you can follow the below steps:

  1. Go to http://bitbucket.org/
  2. Click Get it free
  3. To add a Jira instance bundled to your signup process, click Add
  4. Click Next
  5. Enter your email and full name
  6. Click Agree
  7. Verify your account by clicking the verification link sent to your email address
  8. Enter your desired password
  9. Click Sign up
  10. Enter your desired Jira instance or site name
    1. You must use a unique instance or site name
    2. A new workspace will be automatically created using the same unique instance or site name you've provided
  11. Click Agree
  12. You'll be redirected to your newly created workspace that is already connected to your new Jira instance
