Summary

  • The purpose of this KB article is to provide instructions on how to report malware hosted on Bitbucket Cloud or otherwise malicious content.
  • If you are unsure of whether or not the content infringes upon our terms of service, please refer to our customer agreement for more information.


NOTE: This article does not relate to the reporting of content that infringes upon copyright, we have a seperate article for reporting copyright and trademark violations that relates to this process.

Environment

  • If you suspect that a Bitbucket Cloud workspace may be hosting malicious content, we would first suggest having the content scanned by a link scanner such as VirusTotal to confirm your diagnosis:
    https://www.virustotal.com/gui/home/url
  • Regardless of whether or not the results of the scan are conclusive, we still encourage and appreciate our users raising their concerns and reporting these so that they may be analyzed by our support team

Solution

There are a few different methods available for logging a report with our support team, these include:

When raising your ticket, please include the following information:

  • A link to the offending content hosted in Bitbucket Cloud (e.g. workspace/repository/code snippet)
  • A brief description of the offending content/any relevant scan results
