April 2013

April 22, 2013

This release has some great changes for JIRA users, including a cleaner way to view issues and more direct navigation to adminstration screens. Confluence and GreenHopper updates will also be released.

Detail View in JIRA

  • Switch between the 'detail view' and the basic 'list view', and take action on those items that need your immediate attention. This is what the detail view looks like:

New JIRA Administration header

  • JIRA Administrators now have easier direct access to the pages they use most. Simply click the cog icon  at top right of the screen, then choose the functional area you wish to administer, e.g., System, Issues, and so on.

JIRA Project Templates

  • We've added a new dialog that allows you to select from different types of projects, when creating a new project.

Please note, in this upgrade, choosing any project type in the dialog will create the default JIRA project. However, we are in the process of developing pre-configured project templates for project types. We are considering custom workflows, sample data, preset issue types, default fields, etc, for these templates. Your use of the dialog will give us with valuable data to help us build the right project types.

JIRA mobile enhancements

  • You can now assign an issue to any user, not just yourself.
  • You can mention a person in a comment or restrict the comment via the  and  icons respectively.
  • The Switch to desktop version link is now available in the footer of every page.
  • Additional issue details (e.g. issue type, labels, components, etc) now expand to display on the same issue page via a More link, rather than showing on a new page.
  • The view issue page now has a single header, instead of a two-tiered header.

Confluence blueprint improvements

  • Administrators can now disable particular blueprints for the whole site. Go to Confluence Admin > Global Templates and choose Disable next to the blueprint you wish to disable.
  • The attachments macro (used in the File List blueprint) has been updated to include inline preview and a handy Download All button to download all attachments.
  • 'Remove' options have been renamed 'Delete' (for example Tools > Remove is now Tools > Delete to delete a page). The location and function of these options have not changed.
