Agility boards: Create an issue anywhere on the board (plus)

You can now create issues anywhere on an agility board - whether it's at the top of a column, the bottom of a column, or even between two existing issues.

Agility boards: Select multiple issues (plus)

On agility boards, you can now select multiple issues and move them all to another column in one go.

Your new issue hasn't vanished – it's hidden by your board's filter (plus)

While viewing your board through a specific filter, you can create a new issue that doesn't match the filter; we'll let you know that the new issue has been successfully created, even though it'll be hidden by your current filter.

Agility boards: Project settings (plus)

You can now access project settings for all agility projects.

Boards display a maximum of 5000 issues (plus)

To reduce slow load times and accelerate your Jira experience, boards will now display a maximum of 5000 issues at a time. If your board tries to display more than 5000 issues, you'll be prompted to update your filters.

Agility boards: Creating an issue that is hidden by the filter (plus)

An update for when you create an issue on your board. If your newly created issue is hidden by your current filter, we'll let you know, and give you the option of viewing it immediately.

Create issues directly on your agility board, between existing issues (plus)

The agility board lets you create multiple issues directly on your board between existing issues.

Agility boards: Display information from development tools (plus)

Cards on your agility boards will now display information from your development tools. Check it out by connecting your repo.

Agility boards: Column limits (plus)

You can now add maximum issue limits to each column on your agility boards.

Agility boards: View all completed issues (plus)

You can now see all the issues you've completed on your agility board in one big list. Hit ** Looking for an older issue? ** in the Done column to take a look.

Agility boards: Issue labels (plus)

You can now categorize issues on agility boards by assigning labels. You can also select labels in the board filter to focus on certain issues.

Jira platform

Changes in this section usually apply to all Jira products. We'll tell you in the change description if something is only for a specific Jira product.

Search improvements (plus)

See a list of your recently viewed items when you click in the Search field in the header, and see results appear in real time as you type.

New Jira experience: Sidebar navigation (plus)

We're rolling out a new experience for you and your teams. If you have the new experience on your Jira site, take a look at this guide to see what's new and what's changed.

Boards in quick search (plus)

Boards appear in the quick search in the new Jira experience. If you already have the new experience on your Jira site, read this guide to learn about it.

New issue view: Jira Software boards (plus)

Quickly view and update issue details in our new issue view for your software boards. Select an issue on your board and it opens in a new pop-up dialog instead of the previous sidebar view. We're rolling this out gradually, so you may not see it on your site just yet.

We're adding new features and refining the design all the time, so click Give feedback on the issue view to let us know what you think.

New "time in status" WHEN rule for request automation (plus)

You can now automate the handling of requests based on the time they have been in a certain status.  In the automation settings, you will find a new WHEN action that allows you to specify the status and the amount of time of the requests you'd like to manage. Adding in a THEN action afterwards will allow you to take action on those requests like transitioning an issue to 'closed' or prompting for a comment.

The new Jira experience (plus)

We're rolling out a new Jira experience to our Jira Cloud customers. If you already have it on your site, read this guide to learn about it.

Manage users and roles on the People page

Users and Roles is now called 'People'. It's where you manage access for the team of real people who work on your project.

Edit the default assignee and project lead in Project Details

Go to Project settings > Details to edit your project lead and default assignee in one place.

Jira global settings have moved (plus)

We've made a few layout changes that include:

  • New dark-blue sidebar
  • The settings top navigation bar has been placed in the new sidebar
  • New font, font colors, button colors, change link colors, and margin - padding changes.

Comment reactions (plus)

React to comments in Jira Core. Save those "+1" and "Thanks" comments for later and add a reaction instead (smile)

New issue view: Optimistic transitions (plus)

Faster issue transitions in the new board issue view. No more sitting around waiting for that transition to happen.

New issue view: Attachments panel (plus)

Add attachments directly to the new board issue view, without needing to add them in the description or comments. Click the quick-add paperclip icon under the issue summary to get started.

New issue view: Consistent image appearance in view and edit (plus)

We've improved the way we show images and other media in descriptions and comments in the new issue view. Now they look the same whether you're editing or viewing the issue.

Changes to projects (plus)

If you've opted into the new Jira experience, you can quickly move between your most recent projects from the project sidebar. Select the arrow next to the current project's name and avatar to try it out.

New issue view: Create subtasks (plus)

Capture everything that needs to be done by creating subtasks in the new issue view. Click the quick-add (tick) under the issue summary to start adding subtasks.

New issue view: Backlog (plus)

Take advantage of our simpler, more consistent issue view when planning your next sprint or grooming your backlog. Please note, this feature isn't available for all sites yet. We're rolling it out slowly, so don't worry if you don't see it just yet.

New issue view: Hide subtasks when they're done (plus)

In the new issue view, choose ••• > Hide done to hide the subtask on the parent issue when it's transitioned to done.

New issue view: Reorder subtasks (plus)

Drag and drop subtasks to arrange them the way you want in the new board issue view.

Invite new people to Jira projects by email (plus)

When adding people to projects, Jira admins can invite people to join their Atlassian site.

New issue view: Quicker opening subtasks (plus)

Click a subtask in the new issue view, and it'll appear in the same dialog rather than loading a whole new one. Time-saving win!

New issue view: Jira mobile (plus)

The improved usability and consistency of our new issue view is now on mobile too. Get the same great experience, regardless of device.
