These changes have recently been rolled out to Atlassian Cloud sites.

Changes labeled ROLLING OUT are being gradually rolled out and may not be on your site just yet.

Atlassian Cloud

Your cloud-hosted products are supported by the Atlassian Cloud platform. This section usually includes changes related to multiple Atlassian Cloud products, site administration, and user management.

Email users with suggested account changes


From the Change details button, you can suggest that a user changes their account details to make their profile more consistent and easier to identify. Read more about administering Atlassian accounts.

Give your users a Trusted permission


From a user's Permission options, select Trusted to give certain users more responsibility. These users will be able to install and configure new products on your site and invite new users themselves.

Get more work done with improved navigation

New issue view: Vote for your preferred issues


You can now vote on issues in the new issue view to voice your preference for them — it works the same way it did in the old issue view. To try it out, click the thumbs up at the top right of an issue. From there you can vote for the issue and see who else has voted.

Advanced Roadmaps for Jira Cloud - Replace 'Current Sprint' with '14 days' in Completion Date filter


With this update to Live Plans (2.0), “Current Sprint” in the completion date filter is replaced with two new labels: “Last 30 days” and “Last 14 days”.

Collapsed next-gen custom fields in advanced issue search


We collapsed next-gen fields in the dropdown selection menus people use to search for issues across Jira. Selecting the right field to filter on isn’t a guessing game anymore. You get more accurate and meaningful search results. We also labelled the fields by their type. To try it out, select Search > Advanced search for issues, and use the +More dropdown to look for your fields.

New issue view: Fields displayed to the side of their name

More space and less scrolling in the new issue view. Fields are now normally displayed to the side of their name, but are responsive to the size of your window.

Issue collector no longer matches the submitter's user session to make them the reporter


We’ve adapted our issue collectors to the Chrome browser’s new cookie security features, but have had to change how they work. The issue collector no longer matches a submitter’s user session to make them the reporter. You can still match them by email address.

To improve issue security, project and issue keys are no longer displayed in the success message after submitting feedback on an issue collector (unless the project is open to anyone on the web).

Track deployment information in Jira


Get greater visibility of deployments by automatically tracking and displaying Git pipelines against the issues over a time scale. You can now visualize the progress of a work-item as it moves through your deployment pipeline. To use the Deployments feature, simply integrate Jira Software with Bitbucket Pipelines. Use Microsoft mail servers to create issues and comments from email

Is the Microsoft mail server you use for issue and comment creation still in basic authentication? Upgrade your mail servers to OAuth 2.0 as service providers like Microsoft are ending support for basic authentication. Alternatively, you can add new Microsoft incoming mail servers.

Request approval from approvers associated with a service


When configuring approvals for a workflow in the new IT service management template, admins can now allow approvers associated with a service to flag, review, and approve changes to reduce the risk of impacting service quality. Advanced Roadmaps for Jira - View Switching


Introducing View Switching for Advanced Roadmaps for Jira.

This new feature on Cloud allows you to change how data is displayed in your plan, depending on your audience and the story you want to tell. Once you've created your complete plan, use a bevy of filters and tools to focus on dependencies, high-level planning, workload allocation, and more. Then you can save your settings as a View that can be shared across your organization.

The View switching feature comes with four preset views, each of which can be customized to suit your needs:

  • Basic view
  • Top-level planning view
  • Dependency management view
  • Sprint capacity management view

Advanced Roadmaps for Jira: Create new plans with ease


It’s never been easier to create a plan with relevant issues for your planning needs. With the new plan creation wizard, we’ve streamlined the process and redesigned the look and feel. We’ve also added new pages to the Configure menu so you can easily edit the plan’s scope at any time.

Advanced Roadmaps for Jira - Sort by custom fields


This update brings the ability to sort by custom fields to Advanced roadmaps on Cloud. Once they’re configured for your plan, you can use the following custom field types as filters:

  • single-choice select
  • multiple-choice select
  • checkbox
  • radio button
  • label

Notifications for bulk actions


Users can now get email notifications when someone transitions or comments on multiple requests they’re involved with (watching, reporters etc). You get an email! You get an email! Everyone gets an email! Learn more about using bulk actions

New issue view: View your attachments the way you want


View all your attachments (including those from fields, comments, and work log entries) in either a strip or list, or switch between the two. It’s up to you.

New issue view: Pin your most important fields to the top


No more scrolling through long lists of fields. You can now pin your most important and frequently used fields to the top of the issue view, including the ones under the “Show more” link. Just hover a field, click the pin icon, and you’ll see it at the top of the issue view in the Your pinned fields section.

New issue view: Include subtasks in time tracking


In the new issue view, you can now include an issue's subtasks in its time tracking. To try it, find an issue with the Time tracking field, then check or uncheck the include subtasks checkbox to suit your needs. You can choose to include or exclude subtasks for time tracking on any issue with subtasks.

Deployments view for Jira classic software projects


Get greater visibility of deployments by automatically tracking and displaying Git pipelines against the issues over a time scale. You can now visualize the progress of a work-item as it moves through your deployment pipeline. To use the Deployments feature, simply integrate the Jira Software Cloud classic project with your Git Pipelines. Learn more about the Deployments feature

Connection flows with third-party repositories


After linking the code repositories with your Jira project,

  • You can see the repositories from the third-party providers on the Code page.
  • You can manage your third-party app integrations through code settings. Navigate to the settings from the meatballs menu on the top-right corner of the Code page to configure your connection flows. Learn more about the Code in Jira feature

Advanced Roadmaps for Jira - Issue Search

You can now search for specific issues within your plan using the magnifying glass icon on the right-side of the Scope column. To learn more about this function, see the Filtering issues page in the docs.

Advanced Roadmaps for Jira - Better Kanban Capacity Algorithm


This update changes how Advanced Roadmaps allocates capacity to Kanban teams for issues that last longer than one week. Before, the capacity of an issue would be spread out evenly across all weeks. With this update, issues will now consume the remaining capacity of an iteration before consuming capacity from next one. For example, if you have an issue that takes 40 hours over the course of two weeks, instead of allotting 20 hours per week, Advanced Roadmaps will now assign as many hours as possible to the first week, then place the remaining hours in the second.

Jira Software

From March 31, 2021, we’ll begin moving all users to the new issue view in Jira Cloud products (Jira Software, Jira Service Desk, and Jira Core). Shortly after that, we’ll remove access to the old issue view. We’ve made great improvements to the new issue view in the past year and will continue to make it better before we remove the old one. For key dates, what’s next, and more details, check out our official announcement.

GitHub app on the Atlassian Marketplace


We've partnered with GitHub to build a new and improved integration, which you can install at the Atlassian Marketplace. This replaces the DVCS connector in Jira's system settings. Current GitHub integrations set up under the old method will continue to work, but new integrations must be set up using the app on the Atlassian Marketplace. We're rolling out this update gradually, so it may not be on your Jira Cloud site yet.

This won't affect GitHub Enterprise integrations, which must still be set up via the DVCS connector.

Roadmap: A unique point of view


The roadmap has always been the place to visualize your work. So, why not customize what you see?

Choose to display All, Incomplete, or Complete epics, with or without dependencies and progress. Then, pick a timeframe: weeks, months, or quarters. No pressure, though. The timeline switcher now floats over the bottom right corner of your roadmap, so you can change time periods whenever.

Use keyboard shortcuts in your queues


Use keyboard shortcuts to navigate around your queues and get your work done faster. You can now move through issues, select their fields, and go to the issue view from your queues just by using your keyboard!

Focused request types page and new portal groups page


We’re revamping the Request types page so you can focus on editing and creating request types, and bringing your portal settings together so that you can manage your portal groups in one place. Plus, there's no more ‘hidden from portal' group - request types will be hidden from your portal by default.

Knowledge base settings refresh


The Knowledge base settings page has been updated - we’ve made some layout adjustments to refresh the page. Go to Project settings > Knowledge base to check it out.

Link multiple Confluence spaces to your knowledge base


It’s here! You can now link more than one Confluence space to your knowledge base. Organize your articles more efficiently and help your customers faster than ever with the redesigned knowledge base settings page. Admins can now create a space from their service desks, link multiple existing spaces at once, set individual space permissions, and manage article suggestions better. And agents can now filter articles by linked spaces.

Search for any page or blog when adding a link using the new editor


When adding a link using the new editor, you can search for any page or blog in your site in addition to pasting a URL or picking a recently viewed Confluence page or blog.

Jira issue URLs are converted to smart links


When you paste a Jira issue link into a Confluence page, the URL is converted to a smart link that displays the page icon and the page title. This works if the Jira and Confluence sites are linked or if they are both cloud versions.

See and interact with inline comments when editing a page


✍️ To make life easier for page authors who need to implement feedback added as an inline comment, you can now see the inline comments when editing a page. This means that you can see the comments in context, reply to them, resolve them, and delete them. :celebrate:

We've hidden the Like button on archived pages


When you archive a page, you’re signaling to your team that this page is outdated or otherwise no longer relevant to current work. Since no one should be paying attention to or engaging with these pages, we’ve hidden the Like button so no new likes can be added.

You’ll still be able to see all likes the page accrued up until it was archived.

New loading experience for page buttons


We've improved the loading experience of page buttons like the "Edit" pencil, the star, and Share so they don't move around while the page is loading.

Archive all nested pages in one action


Page archiving enters its next phase with nested archiving. For any page you archive, if it has any nested pages, you’ll have the option to include all of them with the original page selected. Pages archived together will maintain their visual hierarchy in the archived pages list, to preserve the context in which they were organized in the page tree.

You’ll have the same option to include all nested pages when restoring any page in the archive back to the page tree.

You can use nested archiving on the premium plan.

Better visibility into permissions limitations on pages


Page restrictions just got a lot clearer. In special situations where a user’s view or edit access is restricted, Confluence will now tell you why. So it’ll be easier for you to see (and fix!) when:

  • a user needs to be given permission to view a parent page before they’ll be able to view the current page
  • a user needs to be given permission at the space level to view pages in the space before they’ll be able to view the current page
  • a user needs permission at the space level to edit pages in the space before they’ll be able to edit the current page

Improvements to the people menu


We’re gradually rolling out some tweaks to the People menu. The Invite your teammates button is now named Add people. You’ll find the button a little further up the menu.

When you add new users to Confluence from the Add People button, your site settings determine whether they’re invited or sent an access request.

Quickly search Confluence and Jira


When Confluence and Jira are part of the same site, you can use the search in the navigation for either product to search for results across both products. This will help you find the information you need quickly in order to maximize your efficiency.

Anyone can invite others to join free sites

Now any user on the Free plan of Jira Software or Confluence can invite other people to the products on this site. This is the new default setting, but admins can change this permission in site administration user settings.

Recommending pages to archive


We’ve added a notification email that’ll recommend archiving pages excluded by a bulk archiving action.

With the ability to archive a page and all of its nested pages (a whole branch of the page tree), sometimes not all pages in the branch can be included. This happens when the archiver either doesn’t have permission to view a nested page or doesn’t have permission to archive a nested page, which results in these pages being left behind in the page tree.

If you created any of these “left behind” pages, we’ll let you know in the email and give you a quick way to archive them!

Global app settings and functionality in one place (iOS)


We consolidated global app settings and functionality into one convenient place. You can now change settings and preferences for the app, quickly jump to another Atlassian app, and switch between Confluence sites — all from the new Account screen.

You can access the Account screen by tapping on your circular avatar in the top left of the app. Make sure you’re on the surface level of any of the four tabs along the bottom of the app: Your work, Spaces, Activity, or Notifications.

Search both Jira and Confluence with the quick search bar


If you use Confluence along with Jira, you can find content and see recent items in either location. Open quick search in the navigation bar and use the Jira and Confluence tabs to choose the location you’d like to search.

Tip: Press / on your keyboard to open the quick search field.

Begin template previews rollout to customers


Now you can preview templates in the editor before you select them. Just hover over the name of the template you’d like to see.

Page actions have been reorganized


When you are viewing a page, there are a lot of things that you can see and do. The more important and useful actions are represented as icons at the top of the page. Actions that you use less frequently or those that are used by fewer people are tucked away in the More actions ( ••• ) menu. The actions available there have been reorganized into more logical sections — actions, key metadata, and advanced details.

The following actions were removed as their functionality was achieved elsewhere:

  • Restrictions — use the lock icon to the left of the Share button
  • Link to this Page — continue to use the shortcut key k to launch the Link to this Page modal, copy the page link from the Share dialog box, or copy the URL from the browser
  • View in hierarchy — use the Space sidebar to navigate to Space Settings > Content Tools > Reorder pages where you can view all pages in the space and reorder them

If your site contains 3rd party actions, those will be at the bottom.

Easily see the context of your page using the breadcrumb at the top.

You can bulk archive up to 500 pages at a time


To ensure Confluence performs at the highest level for you, we’ve limited the amount of pages you can archive or restore using our bulk archive or bulk restore features to 500 pages at a time. We hope to increase the limit soon!


Bitbucket Cloud: Pull request attachments


You can now attach any size or type of file to pull requests in Bitbucket Cloud, and any changes to attachments are now displayed in the Activity feed on the right sidebar. This feature was added per the following suggestion: BCLOUD-15202.

Automatically merge a pull request when all checks pass


Sometimes it can take a while to get all the builds and reviews required by pull request (PR) merge checks, so the PR author has to keep checking back to ensure all the checks pass in order to merge their changes. Now in the new pull request experience, the PR author or an admin can enable this feature to queue up a pending merge to be triggered automatically once all the merge checks have passed.
