These changes have recently been rolled out to Atlassian Cloud sites.

Changes labeled ROLLING OUT are being gradually rolled out and may not be on your site just yet.

Atlassian Cloud

Your cloud-hosted products are supported by the Atlassian Cloud platform. This section usually includes changes related to multiple Atlassian Cloud products, site administration, and user management.

Jira platform

Changes in this section usually apply to all Jira products. We'll tell you in the change description if something is only for a specific Jira product.

New issue view: Find work from your entire Jira site in the editor


In the new issue view’s editor, you can now link work from your entire Jira site and not just recent items. To try it out, go to an issue, open the editor (by, for example, clicking into a description field or starting a comment), and click the link button in the toolbar. From there, you can search your entire Jira site for work.

Issue collector matches the submitter's user session differently in Chrome


We’ve adapted our issue collectors to the Chrome browser’s new cookie security features and made some changes to how they work. The issue collector no longer matches a submitter’s user session to make them the reporter, but you can still match them by email address.

To improve issue security, project and issue keys are no longer displayed in the success message after submitting feedback on an issue collector (unless the project is open to anyone on the web).

Advanced Roadmaps for Jira: Create new plans with ease


It’s never been easier to create a plan with relevant issues for your planning needs. With the new plan creation wizard, we’ve streamlined the process and redesigned the look and feel. We’ve also added new pages to the Configure menu so you can easily edit the plan’s scope at any time.

Advanced Roadmaps for Jira - Sort by custom fields


This update brings the ability to sort by custom fields to Advanced roadmaps on cloud. Once they’re configured for your plan, you can use the following custom field types as filters:

  • single-choice select
  • multiple-choice select
  • checkbox
  • radio button
  • label

New issue view: Estimates for time tracking apps


The new issue view now displays a field for the estimated time remaining when you use time tracking apps. To try it out, install your favorite time tracking app, go to an issue, and check it out yourself.

Epics filtering for deployment pipelines


Apply the magic of advanced filtering with options such as Environment, Epic, Type, and Deployments settings to configure your Deployments view. Now you can drill-down to your deployments against issues with more precision and control at the level of epics and issue types. You can also sort the issues without deployment information. Connection flows with third-party repositories


After linking code repositories with your Jira project, you can:

  • See repositories from third-party providers on the Code page.
  • Manage your third-party app integrations through code settings.

To configure your connection flows, select More options (•••) on the Code page of your project. Learn more about the Code in Jira feature.

New issue view: Delay reminders to move to the new issue view

As an admin, you’ll soon receive an option to move your users to the new issue view all at once before March 31, 2021. To take advantage of that option, you need to delay new issue view reminders in our new issue view transition page. That way your users don’t receive pop-up reminders in Jira with the wrong date. Subtasks on cards in classic boards


See the total number of subtasks, including tasks that are already done, on your classic Jira Core business project boards.

Jira Software

From March 31, 2021, we’ll begin moving all users to the new issue view in Jira Cloud products (Jira Software, Jira Service Desk, and Jira Core). Shortly after that, we’ll remove access to the old issue view. We’ve made great improvements to the new issue view in the past year and will continue to make it better before we remove the old one. For key dates, what’s next, and more details, check out our official announcement.

Roadmap: Right-click an issue to clear its start and due date


Due dates change (because change is the only constant in life). Pretend those dates never were by right-clicking your issue directly from the roadmap. Make all the dates disappear, or just the start date or due date.

GitHub app on the Atlassian Marketplace


We've partnered with GitHub to build a new and improved integration, which you can install at the Atlassian Marketplace. This replaces the DVCS connector in Jira's system settings. Current GitHub integrations set up under the old method will continue to work, but new integrations must be set up using the app on the Atlassian Marketplace. We're rolling out this update gradually, so it may not be on your Jira Cloud site yet.

This won't affect GitHub Enterprise integrations, which must still be set up via the DVCS connector.

Enhanced invite visibility


We’ve made it easier to add your teammates from the dropdown People menu in the top navigation of Confluence and Jira Software.

Get started quicker with the 'Quickstart' panel


Knowing what to do first when you create a new kind of project can be tricky. That’s why we’ve introduced the Quickstart panel - a handy side panel filled with easy-to-follow steps and links to documentation to get you up and running as quickly as possible.

If you’d rather look at it later, then simply select Close Quickstart at the bottom of panel - you can always open it back up through your Settings (cog) in the top right.

Welcome tour for Jira Service Management


Admins will be greeted with an optional welcome tour the first time they enter Jira Service Management or create a new IT service management template. Let us show you what to look out for!

Your sidebar navigation now has sections


We’ve updated the sidebar navigation of your projects with sections and headings to help you find what you’re looking for faster. Under the ‘Operations’ heading, you’ll find Services, On-call, and Alerts (if they’ve been enabled). Under ‘Knowledge’, you’ll find your knowledge base and reports, and under ‘Customers & people' you’ll see your channels, team invite, and Customers page. You can also add your own shortcuts to other websites or apps under ‘Shortcuts’.


Confluence mobile: Undo or redo what you've typed on iOS


Made a mistake? (Don’t worry, we all do.) Now you’ll find convenient undo/redo buttons in the editor.

Jira issue URLs are converted to smart links


When you paste a Jira issue link into a Confluence page, the URL is converted to a smart link that displays the page icon and the page title. This works if the Jira and Confluence sites are linked or if they are both cloud versions.

Feel refreshed when browsing the space directory


The space directory is THE place to go in Confluence when you want to see all spaces that are available to you. The filters and actions available have been updated to make it easier to find a space you are looking for. You can also review the spaces here and watch or star the ones that are important to you. If you are a space or product administrator, you can get to space settings from here without going to each space.

See and interact with inline comments when editing a page

✍️ To make life easier for page authors who need to implement feedback added as an inline comment, you can now see the inline comments when editing a page. This means that you can see the comments in context, reply to them, resolve them, and delete them. :celebrate:

Hiding the Like button on archived pages


When you archive a page, you’re signaling to your team that this page is outdated or otherwise no longer relevant to current work. Since no one should be paying attention to or engaging with these pages, we’ve hidden the Like button so no new likes can be added.

You’ll still be able to see all likes the page accrued up until it was archived.

New loading experience for page buttons


We've improved the loading experience of page buttons like the "Edit" pencil, the star, and Share so they don't move around while the page is loading.

Archive all nested pages in one action


Page archiving enters its next phase with nested archiving. For any page you archive, if it has any nested pages, you’ll have the option to include all of them with the original page selected. Pages archived together will maintain their visual hierarchy to preserve the context in which they were organized in the page tree.

You’ll have the same option to include all nested pages when restoring any page in the archive back to the page tree.

You can use nested archiving on the Premium plan.

Better visibility into permissions limitations on pages


Page restrictions just got a lot clearer. In special situations where a user’s view or edit access is restricted, Confluence will now tell you why. So it’ll be easier for you to see (and fix!) when:

  • a user needs to be given permission to view a parent page before they’ll be able to view the current page
  • a user needs to be given permission at the space level to view pages in the space before they’ll be able to view the current page
  • a user needs permission at the space level to edit pages in the space before they’ll be able to edit the current page

Improvements to the people menu


We’re gradually rolling out some tweaks to the People menu. The Invite your teammates button is now named Add people. You’ll find the button a little further up the menu.

When you add new users to Confluence from the Add People button, your site settings determine whether they’re invited or sent an access request.

Find the perfect template for any project


You can browse templates in any space across your site from the easy-to-access template gallery. Just select Templates from the global navigation menu to start browsing.

Recommending pages to archive


We’ve added a notification email that’ll recommend archiving pages excluded by a bulk archiving action.

With the ability to archive a page and all of its nested pages (a whole branch of the page tree), sometimes not all pages in the branch can be included. This happens when the archiver either doesn’t have permission to view a nested page or doesn’t have permission to archive a nested page, which results in these pages being left behind in the page tree.

If you created any of these “left behind” pages, we’ll let you know in the email and give you a quick way to archive them!

Edit existing comments on mobile


Now you can edit existing comments with ease, right in the palm of your hand.

Template previews in the editor


You can preview templates in the editor before you select them. Just hover over the name of the template you’d like to see.

Page actions have been reorganized


When you are viewing a page, there are a lot of things that you can see and do. The more important and useful actions are represented as icons at the top of the page. Actions that you use less frequently or those that are used by fewer people are tucked away in the More actions ( ••• ) menu. The actions available there have been reorganized into more logical sections — actions, key metadata, and advanced details.

The following actions were removed as their functionality was achieved elsewhere:

  • Restrictions — use the lock icon to the left of the Share button.
  • Link to this Page — continue to use the shortcut key k to launch the Link to this Page modal, copy the page link from the Share dialog box, or copy the URL from the browser.
  • View in hierarchy — use the space sidebar to navigate to Space Settings > Content Tools > Reorder pages where you can view all pages in the space and reorder them.

If your site contains third-party actions, those will be at the bottom.

Aggregate decisions in one place


Being able to add Decision elements to pages created using the new editor was good, but you didn’t have an easy way to gather up those decisions in one place until now. Wherever you need to see specific decisions that make sense to the content of your page, insert the Decision report macro from the toolbar or the slash command menu. You can use filters to focus on the pages whose decisions make sense to you.

Since decisions are often made during meetings, the macro was also added to the Meeting notes page that is auto-generated in each space; this auto-generated page serves as the index that lists any pages created from a meeting notes template anywhere in the space, which is particularly handy if meeting notes need to be in different parts of your page tree.

Search for any page or blog when adding a link using the new editor


When adding a link using the new editor, you can search for any page or blog in your site in addition to pasting a URL or picking a recently viewed Confluence page or blog.

We're adding an Apps section in space navigation


The new Apps section in the space navigation pane shows your installed Connect and Forge apps. Space admins can customize which apps are visible and change the display order of the apps in the space.

Bulk archive up to 500 pages at a time
