These changes have recently been rolled out to Atlassian Cloud sites.

Your cloud-hosted products are supported by the Atlassian Cloud platform. This section usually includes changes related to multiple Atlassian Cloud products, site administration, and user management.

The ‘Quick start’ panel is getting an upgrade - now you’ll be able to restart product tours, navigate directly to ‘getting started’ documentation and get up and running quickly using a checklist directly from within Jira Service Management and Opsgenie. Want to find the panel again? Go to your profile in the top right and select ‘Your coach’.

Advanced Roadmaps for Jira - Create new plans with ease

It’s never been easier to create a plan with relevant issues for your planning needs. With the new plan creation wizard, we’ve streamlined the process and redesigned the look and feel. We’ve also added new pages to the Configure menu so you can easily edit the plan’s scope at any time.

New issue view: Estimates for time tracking apps

ROLLING OUT

The new issue view now displays a field for the estimated time remaining when you use time tracking apps. To try it out, install your favorite time tracking app, go to an issue, and check it out yourself.

New Issue View: Add web links to images

ROLLING OUT

In the new issue view’s editor, you can now add web links to images. This means that when you’re adding an image to a field or comment, you have the option to add a web link to the image too. When someone clicks an image with a web link, a new tab with the associated URL will be opened.

Advanced Roadmaps for Jira - Change 'create' to 'add' for teams

The “Create Team” button in the Teams tab now reads “Add Team”. This change makes it clearer what the button does. This is in response to the feedback we received from users who told us the previous button was confusing.

New issue view: Issue actions (or "looped" transitions) are now available

Issue actions, where a transition allows you to perform an action but keep the issue in its current status, are now available next to the new issue view's status bar at the top right of an issue. If your issue's workflow has action(s), you'll see either the name of the action (if you have one action) or an Actions dropdown (if you have more than one action). Updates to notification behaviour for agents and admins

If you’re a Jira Service Management agent or admin, and you’re added to a request as an agent and as a customer, agent notifications will now be prioritized over customer notifications. Learn more about how notifications work in Jira Service Management.

Date range filter for your deployments

Refine and reset your search results in a project

ROLLING OUT

Find issues in your project even faster with the new Status Category quick filter. Filter by status category—To do, In progress, or Done—along with the existing quick filters for AssigneeStatus, and Type. Select Show full list to view the list of available options under these quick filters. Unhappy with your search results? Select Reset to clear your search criteria.

New issue view: Edit an issue's resolution

You can now edit an issue’s resolution to add context to why it was resolved. For example, an issue could reach the Done status because it’s a duplicate, already fixed, or triaged to another team — this information can help your team track what types of issues are created in your project and how they’re resolved. Replacing the media picker with your system's file upload

We're removing the media picker dialog, which appears when you click the Files and images button in Bitbucket Cloud, Confluence Cloud, and Jira Cloud products, and replacing it with your system’s built-in file upload dialog. We’ve observed that very few people use the media picker, with most people preferring to drag and drop or paste files onto pages and issues. You’ve also shared feedback with us that, in some cases, the media picker doesn’t work the way you’d like it to.

Importantly, you can still link to files from services like Dropbox and Google Drive. Paste a link on your page or issue and we’ll create a handy smart link to it so the latest version is always available.

Jira Software

From March 31, 2021, we’ll begin moving all users to the new issue view in Jira Cloud products (Jira Software, Jira Service Desk, and Jira Core). Shortly after that, we’ll remove access to the old issue view. We’ve made great improvements to the new issue view in the past year and will continue to make it better before we remove the old one. For key dates, what’s next, and more details, check out our official announcement.

Enhanced release notes functionality

Access the enhanced release notes functionality by navigating to Releases > Version > Release notes. The revised Release notes page in your Jira Software project provides you with the following options:

  • Create release notes in the markdown format
  • Regenerate release notes based on layout and issue types
  • Format and update release notes in the editor
  • Copy the release notes to the clipboard

Anonymous access check for Jira Site Import

This new security check will notify in advance if projects, dashboards, and filters are prone to anonymous access post migration. Anonymous access means that the data will be available to the public and searchable online. You can choose whether or not to grant public access before the migration.

Next-gen: Assign multiple statuses to a single column

Like humans and their dogs, or keyboards and computers, columns and statuses have always been inseparable.

Until now. (Kinda.)

This feature gives you the ability to add more than one status to a single column. This supercharged, board-sorting experience means you can group together similar statuses and free up your board. It also means you can drop work into a new status, within the same column.

Less scroll. A neater board. And advanced config—this could be the best separation in a long time.

Next-gen: Time estimation is on its way

ROLLING OUT

The whole shebang isn’t ready just yet, but that’s no reason to hold out on what we do have.

For now, you can add the original estimate field to your issues, estimate the time that work will take, and do a JQL query to find specifics related to time.

To add the original estimate field:

  1. If you’re not there, navigate to your next-gen project.
  2. From your project sidebar, select Project settings.
  3. In Project settings, select Issue types.
  4. In the Fields panel, select Original estimate.
  5. Drag, then drop the field where you’d like it to appear.
  6. Save, close, and estimate away!

New issue view: Epic Status field is now available

The Epic Status custom field can now be displayed on the new issue view. Just get your Jira admin to add the Epic Status field to a screen, and it'll be displayed on all issues using that screen (if the field isn't hidden by a project admin). Learn more about adding custom fields to screens.

Roadmap: Remove epic bar by default

ROLLING OUT

To help make your roadmap a little more accurate, we’ve split epic creation and scheduling into two parts.

Part one: Create the epic

  1. From your roadmap, select (plus) Create epic.
  2. Give it a name, and press enter.

Part two: Schedule the epic

  1. Hover your cursor over your timeline.
  2. Release your click to create the bar. Or, click, then drag your cursor to a specific date. That works, too.
  3. Pick a nice color. Map some dependencies. Get things done.

Make changes to multiple linked spaces at once

Save time and work more efficiently by making changes to multiple linked spaces at once. You can now select multiple spaces and unlink them or change who can view them by going to Project settings > Knowledge base.

Access the Incident Command Center from your major incident queue

ROLLING OUT

The Incident Command Center (ICC) is a video and voice call tool that allows you and your team to swarm on major incidents, helping you to communicate easily and directly with relevant teams. You can now access the ICC directly from Jira Service Management in your ongoing major incidents queue by selecting ‘Join’ or ‘Start’ in the Command Center column to join an existing or create a new ICC session.

Use the incident timeline to track the progress of major incidents

If you use major incidents in your project, you can now view their entire history in Jira Service Management with the incident timeline. Track the progress of live incidents as they occur and quickly see what's been done and what still needs to be done to resolve it. To view the incident timeline of a major incident, go to Incidents, under Major incidents, select Ongoing or Past. Then find the major incident you would like to explore and select View in the Timeline column of that incident.

Create a new page with just one click. Browse or search for templates right in the editor or get straight to work on a blank page.

Use anchor macros in the new editor

The Anchor macro is available in both editing experiences! :celebrate:

You can add a target to a page or blog so that a link can be created that jumps to that part of the page. This is useful when you want a link to take the reader to an image, row in a table, or paragraph.

New spaces are assigned a random icon

ROLLING OUT

To help people visually distinguish one space from another, the default icon assigned to a space will be chosen at random rather than every new space being assigned the same folder image. Space creators can change that default icon or upload their own. Existing spaces are unaffected by this change.

Modernized move page dialog

Moving your published pages and blogs is an important decision. To help you feel more confident when doing this, the experience has been simplified and updated. A link to our product documentation was also added to support you in digging deeper into the details of the behavior.

People listed in page restrictions display alphabetically

ROLLING OUT

We’ve made it easier to peruse the lists of people in page restrictions. They’re alphabetical by the first letter of the person’s first name. So if you’re looking for someone in particular in a long list, you can hone in on them much more quickly by using where their name falls in the alphabet. It’s also much easier to tell if someone’s missing from the list.

Allow steps to skip downloading artifacts

Allowing steps to skip downloading artifacts has been a highly requested feature from our customers. This feature will provide you with more control over the downloading of your artifacts at the start of each step, enabling faster builds and can reduce your costs as a result.

This feature is now available, and disabling artifact downloads during a step is as easy as switching off a flag. These step can still produce artifacts to pass down to future steps. You can disable artifact downloads by inserting download: false under the artifacts section within a step. To provide the list of artifacts to retain in later steps, you can now use artifacts.paths.

End of support and feature removal

  • Webhooks that are larger than 256 KB will no longer be supported. This change may affect integrations that consume these webhooks.
  • The Resend request button has been removed.

Valid IP addresses for webhook delivery

To ensure Bitbucket webhooks are delivered successfully to the destination URLs you configured, add the IP address ranges we use for outgoing connections to the internet made on your behalf to your allow list. The exact list of IPs is in the Outgoing Connections section of the Atlassian cloud IP ranges and domains page.
