Unable to Login Because Alias is Used on Cloud Instances

Problem

After the upgrade of G Suite and implementation of Atlassian Account, Cloud's User Management is using email addresses to identify if a user has the access to the site. Thus, Cloud's User Managements no longer recognises the alias email.

Because of this change, some users encounter issue to log into the site.

Workaround

JIRA and Confluence are using username to map the data. In order to change the email address for the accounts that are integrated with G Suite, you can:

Example

Original account

Email address: alias@example.com

Username: alias

  1. Go to User Management
  2. Delete the old account that is using the alias email from Cloud.
  3. Create a new user with the same username and new email address.

NOTE: You must use the same username as the previous account so that your new account is mapped with the existing data.
