Other language settings

Individual users can choose a display language that's different from the global default for your site.

The language a user sees will depend on the following factors, in order from highest to lowest importance:

  • The language preference set in the user's profile. Users must be logged in for this setting to take effect.
  • The language preference set in the user's web browser, as detected by Confluence.

  • The default language for the site, as defined by the Confluence site administrator.

Show UI key names for translation

If you work on creating translations of the Confluence user interface, you can add the following snippet to the end of any Confluence site page URL:

?i18ntranslate=on

This will display the key name next to elements of the user interface that can be translated, making it easier to translate in context. You'll see a lightning bolt icon between each UI label and its key name, as shown in the following example:

You can then search for the key on http://translations.atlassian.com, where you can enter an appropriate translation for your custom language pack.
