How to organize your content in Confluence?

In regard to spaces and content hierarchy within them, Confluence takes a more dynamic approach to content rather than strictly hierarchical. You can create categories for spaces which allows you to add multiple labels to each space. In such way, single space can be in the category for a department or a division in your organization but also part of a product line for example. This means you do not need to organize content hierarchically only in one way. By using labels, you can categorize a space as a team space, product space, project space, event space, or any other space category.
Additionally, you can create many page levels within a space. Few high-level pages can be used to organize other pages hierarchically. But organizing spaces/pages in Confluence depends on your organization's and teams' workflows. For example, our product advocate team at Atlassian organized its spaces by product (Confluence, JIRA, etc.). This is because in our day to day, product advocates specialize in specific products. Under each product page in our space, there are child pages for reports, meeting notes, and projects. Although there is an element of hierarchy with pages and child pages, you can also use dynamic page displays using labels and macros to display pages in other units by category (i.e. label) across pages and even spaces.
