Does HipChat provide instant chat support to customers?

HipChat is a collaboration hub and instant communication tool. It allows you to chat with team members and see changes to issues in JIRA (includes Service Desk). Although HipChat was built for internal collaboration within an organization, it does have features for guest access to allow external users to join in as well. While the guest access feature was not designed or developed for external support use case, it is possible to develop a custom integration between HipChat and Service Desk to allow spin up of ad-hoc rooms in HipChat. To develop such solution, you can use the HipChat REST API alongside JIRA and JIRA Service Desk REST APIs to build this custom solution on your own.
