Attachments Do Not Render in Some Confluence Pages after a Cloud to Server migration

Problem

While migrating a Confluence+JIRA Cloud instance to Server editions, the Confluence backup did not restore all of the attachments. Confluence is set up just fine and works, and many of the attachments are there--only some unknown percentage is failing to import.

Workaround

  • Submit a support case at support.atlassian.com
  • Request that the Cloud Support Engineer manually zip the attachments folder and move it to webdav for retrieval:
cd /data/jirastudio/confluence/home/data
Zip Format: 7z a -tzip attachments.zip attachments/ -mx0 
Tar Format: tar cvzf attachments.tgz attachments/
mv attachments.* /data/jirastudio/webdav
  • Depending on the amount of data, support may need to split the file into multiple files. As an admin, you would join them into 1 file once downloaded.
