Summary

Upon tapping the home page on the sidebar, instead of having the child pages displayed, they will only spin, blocking users from quickly accessing them.

Diagnosis

  • This may happen with spaces that were recently imported.
  • The home page of the space will be displayed on the sidebar, even though it should not.
  • Through the browser's console (right-click > Inspect > Console), the following error is displayed when reproducing the issue:

Uncaught (in promise) TypeError: Cannot destructure property 'children' of 't.data.page' as it is null.

Cause

Confluence interprets that there are no child pages from the home page ("null"). However, as there are pages that should be displayed, the sidebar keeps only spinning.

Solution

Use the Reorder pages option from the space's administration in order to put a child page above the Home page and then, move it back:

  1. As a space administrator, select the Space settings option from the sidebar while accessing the space with issues.
  2. Selected Manage pagesReorder
  3. Tap the arrow on the left side of the home page's name to expand it, and moved a page to be outside of the hierarchy (via drag and drop).
  4. Move the page back to its correct location.

Once this is done, refresh the page to confirm the fix.
