Symptoms

After upgrading a Confluence instance configured for access via SSL, Internet Explorer displays an Active X message stating that the current security settings restrict Active X:

(Auto-migrated image: description temporarily unavailable)

Cause

The SSL certificate saved in Internet Explorer's cache is outdated, but IE is not replacing it with the new certificate automatically.

Resolution

  1. From Inernet Explorer, go to Tools >> Internet Options >> Content Tab.

  2. Under the Certificates section, click on "Clear SSL State."

  3. Return to the General tab

  4. Delete the browser cookies once more.

  5. Restart IE and attempt to navigate back to the Confluence instance.

The message should no longer display.
