Symptoms

The following error is recorded in the logs when, an application attempts to login:

INFO atlassian.crowd.service.soap.SOAPService: Client host is invalid: 0:0:0:0:0:0:0:1 / 0:0:0:0:0:0:0:1

Cause

The server Crowd is installed on is using IPV6 protocol as default, however Crowd doesn't support IPV6.

Resolution

Disable the IPv6 protocol in Crowd server and revert to IPv4. On Linux, the file /etc/modprobe.conf needs to be modified.
