How to manually update the Crowd license

Purpose

If the license fails to update in Crowd administration, you can also update directly in the configuration file by performing the steps below. The license details for Crowd are stored in crowd.cfg.xml in the application's home directory.

Solution

  1. Shutdown Crowd
  2. Navigate to Crowd's home directory. See Finding your Crowd Home Directory, if this is unknown
  3. Create a backup of the crowd.cfg.xml file and edit with any text editor
  4. Look for the line: <property name="license"><property> and paste the new license between the property tags

  5. Save and close the crowd.cfg.xml file

  6. Start your instance and verify that the license is updated in the Crowd Administration panel
