Symptoms

  1. Occurred only when editing a page containing table in IE. Not happening in any other browsers.
  2. The following editor footer is missing after editing the table:

Cause

  1. Certain plugins are disabled (Tiny Mce Autocomplete Web Resources (editor-autocomplete-resources) module from TinyMCE Editor Plugin and JIRA Connector Plugin (jira-connector) )
  2. A third party plugin interfering with the layout
  3. A corrupted plugin cache

Resolution

  1. Enable the plugins Tiny Mce Autocomplete Web Resources and JIRA Connector Plugin
    1. Navigate to Plugin Administration Page
    2. Search for TinyMCE Editor Plugin and enable the "Tiny Mce Autocomplete Web Resources (editor-autocomplete-resources) module"

    3. Search for JIRA Connector Plugin and enable the "jira-connector"

  2. Enable Plugin Safe Mode
    • If the issue is resolved this means that there are a third party plugin is interfering with the Layout. Enable the plugin one by one to see which one is causing problems
  3. Clear plugin cache

Workaround

If enabling the plugins mentioned above does not solve the problem, and neither does clearing the plugin cache, then please try the following workarounds:

Work Around 1:

To see the save button, the page can be zoomed out to view the save button. It can be achieved in 2 ways.

Way 1

  • Open Internet Explorer, View --> Zoom --> Custom
  • Enter the Percentage zoom field as 95 manually (you can use the up and down arrows to select the zoom %) --> Click OK.

Temp solution is after editing page to reduce the zoom level from 100% to 75% and then back again and the buttons reappear however this has to be done by all users upon every edit.

Way 2

  • Open Internet Explorer
  • Press and hold Ctrl button on Keyboard and Scroll the mouse down to view the Save button.
  • Stop scrolling once the Save button is seen.

Work Around 2:

To resolve the purpose and be able to access the save button:

  • Using the tab button should move the control to the SAVE button showing the button
  • Use keyboard shortcut, ctrl + s to save the page

This should resolve the purpose and be able to access the save button.
