Problem

The dashboard is rendering slowly.

Cause

Space Permissions are expensive when there are lots of spaces.

Diagnosis

Add logging for Identifying Slow Performing Macros. This will indicate what elements of the dashboard are slow.

Workaround

There are several tuning options:

1. Address caches, in particular the space permissions cache. One user-contributed cache document, done with Confluence 3.0, is attached for reference. Cache tuning instructions are here.
2. Modify the dashboard to reduce the impact of poorly performing macros.

Solution

Upgrade to Confluence 3.4. See CONF-5446.
