Symptoms

Symptoms Include:

  • The RSS Macro will not render.
  • The JIRA Issues Macro will not render.
  • The Plugin Repository will not render.
  • Some plugin modules will not render.

Cause

Some of Confluence's macros, such as {rss} and {jiraissues}, and the Confluence Plugin Repository need to make web requests to remote servers in order to retrieve data. If Confluence is deployed within a data-centre or DMZ, it may not be able to access the Internet directly to make these requests. If you find that these functions does not work, ask your network administrator if Confluence needs to access the Internet through a web proxy.

This problem can also be caused by misconfiguration in IIS 7.5 UrlRewrite2 and Application Request Routing.

Resolution

See the Configure Web Proxy Support page or use Apache Reverse Proxy instead of IIS 7.5 UrlRewrite2 and Application Request Routing.
