Each Confluence user has a user profile. In your own profile, you can access account management features and update information about yourself. You can also view other users' profiles, add them to your network, and add their personal spaces to your list of favourites.

To find your user profile:

Choose your profile picture at top right of the screen, then choose Profile.

Or, choose the Profile link in the sidebar of your personal space.

To find someone else's user profile:

  1. Open the user's hover profile popup:

    • Log in to Confluence, if you have not already done so.
Note: If a Confluence Administrator has granted the 'View User Profiles' permission to anonymous users, you can access people's hover profile popups without logging in. However, the hover profile features available to anonymous users are restricted.
    • Move your mouse pointer over a user's linked name or profile picture. The hover profile popup will appear.

  2. Choose the user's linked name to open the user profile.

Alternatively, you can choose the Profile link in the sidebar of the user's personal space or go directly to this URL:

http://MY.CONFLUENCE.COM/users/viewuserprofile.action?username=USERNAME

  1. It's preferences link not profile link and its on the right hand side.

  2. How do you view another user's profile?

    1. Hi Jonathan,

There is an improvement request being tracked at CONF-11286 to cater this requirement. Please add your comments, be a watcher and place your vote to increase the popularity of the request. Meanwhile, you may want to use the following URL pattern to browse to another user profile:

      http://PATH_TO_CONFLUENCE/users/viewuserprofile.action?username=USERNAME

      Hope this helps.

      Cheers,
      Azwandi

      1. However this technique does not let you see anything you cant already see on the admin screen, thus is kind of useless.

Where is the Last Logon date stored in the database? I want to write a script to auto-disable users that have not logged in in a long time.

        1. Ok i found the data in the property "confluence.user.last.login.date", but it is innaccurate anyhow. Back to the drawing board.

    Hi,

is it possilbe to change the layout of the profile site? We would like to add some more information to it, e.g. private contact, second phone number.

    1. You can probably use the User Information Plugin, however, according to my personal tests, this plugin does not work well with Confluence 3.0. If you are familiar with Velocity and Sitemesh, you can further dig up the resources in <conf-install>\confluence\users folder; you can edit the layout manually from there.

  4. What table is the information for position, department and location stored in the database? I don't see a way to populate this information from our LDAP, but I can populate the table if I know where it's stored.

    1. Hi Chainsaw,

As far as I know, the LDAP users will be able to add/edit those entries in their profile by default. However, if you want to populate the table manually, I guess you should be looking at os_propertyentry table. We don't normally recommend users to amend data in the database. However, if you are really into it, these are the sample of the details that exists in my instance:

Please do a backup of your database before doing anything. Hope that helps.

        Hello,

Is it possible to add some fields to confluence profile, without using plugins like user information plugin.

        Thank you

        1. Hi,

As far as I know, this feature is not currently available in Confluence. However, I have found a similar feature request. Please add yourself as a watcher, vote for this feature and add your own comments to this feature request. For further details on how we include new features and improvements, you might want to read this page

How do we get to know is anyone had updated their profile for the last two weeks time? what are the ways to retrieve this information ?

    1. Hi,
We can notice the profile update from the 'Recently Updated' list in Dashboard. However, it will also include other updates on spaces, pages, etc. Meanwhile, there is no feature to control the list by time/day yet. Please feel free to create a feature request at http://jira.atlassian.com, share your comment over there, vote on it , and add yourself as a watcher for future update. Please also take note on how we implement feature request.

Hope it helps. Please feel free to ask again if you need further assistant.

      Thanks & regards,
      Jack

    2. Alternatively, you can use the Recently Updated Macro and specify that you want to see updates to User Profiles only.

      Example:

      {recently-updated:spaces=@all|types=userinfo|max=10}

As Jack mentions it is not currently possible to control the list by time, but it will display the most recent 10 updates, and inform you of the time they were updated. This may be good enough for your needs.

      Cheers,
      Mark

Has anybody had problems where the Activity in a user profile is not totally accurate?

We've got a user whose activity in the last day shows up, but then there's a week-long gap, and then a gap if 2 weeks.

Meanwhile, if you look at changes for a particular page, you'll see that she's made changes to it nearly daily for the past week.

Does Activity try to summarize activity?

  7. I only want full name and email to show up in confluence/users/viewuserprofile.action?username=xxxx and /confluence/users/viewmyprofile.action, which templates should I edit? I tried confluence\users\viewuserprofile.vm, confluence\decorators\profile.vmd but no luck. Thanks in advance.

  8. Hi,

Is it possible for a Confluence Administrator to add profile pictures on behalf of the user?

    Thanks.

    Jacqueline

    1. Hi Jacqueline, sorry that is not possible. You can vote or comment on the feature request here  CONF-14368 - Let Confluence Admins change user profile pictures Open .
