JIRA Throw java.lang.IllegalStateException: No output folder
Symptoms
Some operation will throw stack trace that has
java.lang.IllegalStateException: No output folder
As a side-symptom, you might find that you are unable to add new users to your JIRA instance, getting Communications Breakdown:
In your browser, you get a NetworkError: 500 Internal Server Error
Cause
There is a problem with the file permission especially if the instance is started up using different users.
Resolution
- Check the permission for the JIRA Installation directory
- Check the ownership of the JIRA Installation directory
- Grant the permission or change the ownership of the JIRA installation directory according to this page.
