Symptoms

Mac OS bundles a separate version of JAVA within the OS, as result unknown issues can occur when running JIRA in that environment.

The following appears in the atlassian-jira.log:

java.vendor : Apple Inc.
java.vendor.url : http://www.apple.com/
os.name : Mac OS X

Cause

Mac OS X is not one of JIRA's Supported Platforms.

Resolution

JIRA is a pure Java-based application and should run on any supported operating system, provided that the JDK / JRE requirements are satisfied. That being said, the Mac OS is not officially a supported platform and therefore we can provide minimal support if the issue is an OS related issue running the JDK / JRE.

(info) Migrate the JIRA instance to Windows or Linux, as listed on the Supported Platforms page.
