Unable to render {include} The included page could not be found.

Symptoms

When using IIS as a proxy server in front of JIRA:

  1. Logging in to JIRA fails when going to the JIRA home page via IIS. For example, http://<server-name>/jira.
  2. Accessing a JIRA RSS feed which requires authentication, and as such as the "os_authType=basic" parameter appended to the URL fails and you get the following message after authenticating with correct username and password for JIRA:

You are not authorized to view this page

Cause

The user had enabled basic authentication on the JIRA directory in IIS.

Resolution

Do not configure IIS to do any authentication. JIRA does the authentication, including basic authentication of RSS feeds.
