These steps will configure SharePoint to use Federated Search to return search results from Confluence.

Please review the Federated Search option against the Integrated Index Search option on SharePoint Search Configuration (New) if you have not done so already.

Prerequisite: MOSS 2007 with July 2008 Infrastructure Update or Search Server 2008 Required

This functionality requires either MOSS 2007 or Search Server 2008. It will not work with just Windows SharePoint Services. If you are using MOSS 2007, you must have installed the July 2008 SharePoint Infrastructure Update.

Follow these steps to get Federated Search up and running between SharePoint and Confluence:

  1. Install the OpenSearch Plugin within Confluence
  2. Create a Federated Search Location within SharePoint
  3. Add the Federated Search Web Part to a SharePoint Search Results Page
