General FAQ

What is Bonfire?

Bonfire is an add-on to JIRA and includes browser extensions designed to rapidly capture comprehensive bug reports when testing web applications. It has both a JIRA server plugin component, as well as browser extensions.

What Bonfire License do I need for my JIRA instance?

To enable Bonfire for your JIRA instance, your Bonfire License needs to match your JIRA license. The Bonfire license type and user count must match that of the JIRA license it is being used with. For instance, a 25 User Commercial JIRA license will require a 25 User Commercial Bonfire license. Further information can be found in the licensing and pricing FAQ.

    Hi,

I was just wondering if the Bonfire extension could have a search feature combined with it so that we can browse through the already logged issues in JIRA. This would help in issues not being duplicated when logging an issue through Bonfire.

The Bonfire has made work faster but i think not being able to browse already logged issues is a major drawback with the Bonfire.

      Hi Anand,

Duplicate detection is definitely something we would like to add to Bonfire, and we're tracking the request at  BON-131 - Getting issue details... STATUS

Out of interest, would you prefer a manual issue search, an automated search based on the summary/description you've typed, or some combination of the two?

      Cheers,
      Gilmore

    Thanks Gilmore,

I would love a combination of the two, like a search assist based on the summary/description you've typed and a separate manual search like we have in JIRA.

    Hi,

I am facing a problem while trying to attach a screenshot to an existing issue using the Bonfire. I get the message "not able to connect to the JIRA server". This issue's frequency is 4 out of 5 times.

    Cheers,

    Anand

      Hi Anand,

There was a bug relating to network lag in the issue key autocompletion, which has been fixed in Bonfire 2.1.

      Cheers,
      Gilmore

So, wait, I can't create issues as test cases in Jira and then assign them to people to open and record the results in bonfire?

That kinda completely messes up what we wanted to use JIRA for.

    1. Andrew Prentice

Bonfire allows you to create test sessions in JIRA and assign them to people in which people can record their results, so you can use test sessions as test cases if you wish. See Working with Sessions

I would like to know, is it possible to update the Test Session Programmatically?

    1)      Test Session Status

    2)      Notes field

We’re using test automation tool to test stories outside JIRA. I would like to update the Test session status and notes programmatically, if a Test case failed.

    Thanks
