Enabling Trackback

When Trackback is enabled, any time you link to an external webpage that supports Trackback Autodiscovery, Confluence will send a trackback ping to that page to inform it that it has been linked to.

Confluence pages also support Trackback Autodiscovery and when Trackback is enabled, can receive trackback pings sent by other sites.

To enable trackback:

  1. Choose the cog icon , then choose General Configuration under Confluence Administration
  2. Select Further Configuration in the left panel.
  3. Choose Edit.
  4. Select the Trackback checkbox then Save.

In JIRA, we can specify a list of URL patterns to exclude from Trackback processing

URL Patterns to Exclude: A list of Perl style regular expressions when matched, disallows JIRA from sending the outgoing trackback pings to that URL.

Is there a way, possibly through a configuration file, to do the same in Confluence.

    Thanks

There is a feature request for this. You can vote for and comment on it at:

        http://jira.atlassian.com/browse/CONF-6456

Voting increases the visibility of an issue.

I have enabled trackback in Jira and Confluence. When I add a link in Jira to a Confluence page, the trackback seems to work in Jira. However I don't see anything on the Confluence side. What should I see? I guess I expected that the confluence page would show my jira issue as an incoming link or something.

What I ultimately want, is for every confluence page to list the jira tasks that have been created and are linked to it. Maybe trackback isn't what I need.

    Thoughts?

    Thanks!

      Hi Jay,

You can see the list of trackbacks in the Page Info section (In default theme, choose Tools->Info). Please note that the Confluence page needs to be anonymously accessible for a successful trackback ping.

      Cheers,
      Azwandi
